Celtics' vice president of basketball operations Danny Ainge told The Boston Globe on Wednesday that he'd consider trading Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen for younger talent if it would help foster a transition to the next era.

trade ideas?....would love to have ray on the bulls

I'd rather have Garnett for a year or two, if he were cheap, which isn't likely.

The lone issue with getting any of those guys is that they will be gone in a couple years. However getting Ray Allen for a couple years probably gets us a title if we don't have to give up too much. Korver, picks (or just one), and...Butler? Or Brewer makes more sense salary wise I guess...or Rip, but they probably won't take him.

Ray Allen and Rip playing together almost seems redundant...

yeah.. if we wanted Ray allen, we'd have to give up Korver, Jimmy Butler and probably a pick. Allen has been good this season.. they won't trade him for nothing. Even KK, Butler and a pick might not be enough. I can see a contending team offer more

but then we'd kind of have a logjam at SG with Hamilton, Brewer and Ray Allen.

brew can play SF

he can, but Deng plays like 40 minutes a game. Rip and allen would take up pretty much all of the SG minutes and Brewer would be left with 8-10 MPG. he deserves more than that

SG isn't really a necessity for this team right now. When healthy, Hamilton, Brewer and Korver is a pretty solid platoon at the 2. With Noah and Boozer often on the bench in the 4th quarter, this team needs a scorer in the post in crunch time.

yeah, but KG hasn't really been that great this year. I don't how much he'd help.

plus, if we wanted to trade for him, we'd have to trade contracts worth up to 18 million dollars. So we'd either have to kill our depth to get KG, or trade either Boozer, Noah or Deng + Korver or Brewer for KG. That isn't worth it.

None of those players would help us this year(when you count what we have to give, to get), unless you're using video game logic.

Ray Allen is the only one that is close, but overall, he isn't a huge upgrade for us. In fact, we could very well make a trade for him that hurts us more.

yeah, trading for any of these guys could potentially ruin our depth. Especially if he traded for Pierce or KG. Ray Allen is making 10 M, so he'd be easier to trade for.. but we'd still have to trade at least 2 guys for him. Those 2 guys could be used to get someone younger who can maybe help us more than allen would

Ray Allen is a personal favorite of mine. Doubt GarPax would trade for him. Plus, I don't think we need him at this point for the amount of talent he may cost us.

We don't need another SG. Ray Allen and Rip offer us the same skills, although Allen is a much better shooter and doesn't have the injury issues. As others have echoed, with how questionable Noah and Boozer have been in crunch time, we need to have a more consistent post scorer late in games.

Problem is, who's available? And even more -- would it be worth giving up one of our valuable assets (Asik, Gibson, maybe Butler, depending on how much value you place on him) for a potential rental?

We should've draft Spencer Hawes instead of Joakim Noah.

2 years, 6 million.

i like the way he plays too. Can rebound, shoot from the outside, etc. i wouldn't mind him off the bench
