Why would you move on from Herbert? That makes no sense. The guy was averaging 6 ypc and has more rushing yards than Montgomery even after the Jets game. Herbert seems a good fit for the offense and he is cheap on his rookie deal
Two real reasons to move on from Herbert his hands and pass blocking. I think he’s fast, fair enough, but he doesn’t add another dimension to the O. I’m not sure he’s a fit. I’m sure the fast kind of back he is would function as a complement to a premier back, but I’m not sure he’s the one.

CEH could play the Kareem Hunt role. He can catch passes and has an incredible burst as well as good vision. Getting him as a compliment back would be pretty cool.

Herbert’s had some time to learn blocking and get on his hands. I’m not sure if there’s an answer. I like the kid, but we need to think about upgrades everywhere.

To add on to that, I would have no issue if the Bears keep Montgomery on a team friendly deal and roll with both Herbert and Montgomery again next year.

2 years max deal. 5 million per. DO IT!
I really don’t see anybody offering him more. No other team is going to give him starter money.

I’m currently working on a mock draft and a mock season. I'll, hopefully, get my mock draft done today. I'm not sure when my mock off-season'll get done. One of the ideas that I’m toying around with is trading Khalil Herbert. I see him at his highest value, right now. There is no argument about Herbert being the better runner, but that’s where his value ends.

The context of this trade is that we keep David Montgomery. We re-sign him for about 5-8 million on a deal that’s basically a 2-year deal that’s front-loaded. Why? It’s obvious to the league that he’s not a starter. He’s not. He will have a role to play. Montgomery will play the power back role with the ability to be a receiver.

Montgomery will be the AJ Dillon role. This leaves us to what is Khalil Herbert’s role going forward? I don’t think he has a place on the Bears next year. What kind of heresy is this? Simple. He’s not as effective of a pass blocker and pass catcher as Herbert. He creates a tell, a tendency, a key that can allow for teams to play us differently.

Bring in Clyde Edwards-Helaire for Herbert. Why not? He’s no longer in KC’s plans, and he would bring everything Herbert does well, with the added addition of having sick hands. He was averaging 8.9 yards a reception this year!

KC would get to dump his salary and pick up a back that should work well in their offense. They may even throw in one of their 7th comp picks since we’re picking up his 2 million dollar contract. We would have him under contract for the next two years. We have over a 119 million in cap space; whereas, the Chiefs have 17 million. It’s not too bad, but I’m sure they’d like a couple more to play with.

Seems like he is always injured, can't stay on the field and now it appears he has been beaten out by a low round or FA RB, Pochekco or something. No thanks, I'll keep Herbert.

Reid selecting CEH in the 1st round was a massive blunder. That team had so many other needs(especially defensively) or if they really wanted a RB, go after a guy that can carry the rock 25times a game in Jonathan Taylor.

He just got his job taken by a 7th round pick. Another guy that is a good receiver is on the team rn, wouldn’t hate to resign him

Poles played a part in that decision.

Why would you trade a durable RB with a whopping ypc, for a bum who can’t even produce next to Patrick Mahomes.

Khalil Herbert’s 6 ypc is better than Nick Chubb’s career ypc. Not calling him nearly as good or anything because of the things you mentioned def. matter, and the short sample size, but:

Flat out can’t trade a player that’s that special running the football. Tony Pollard has these same concerns too, they are pretty similar players.

If Andy Reid can't get anything out of him I don't think he's worth anything. If we're going to sign on for a new running back it better be Josh Jacobs
