I just want them to do what is best for Fields so I am really hoping Dalton can play well so they aren’t forced to start him because of outside pressure. If he is ready great.

I kind of wish they just told them look you have next year as well do what is best for this QB. Remember Rodgers sat what 3 years and he talks about how it was huge for him. Now they are doing the same thing with Love.
Every coach or fan wants what is best for Fields be that day 1 or to ease him in at a soft spot of the season. My problem is Dalton. At his best Dalton was a mid-tier quarterback, and those days are long gone. I would say Fields is as ready to play as any QB in this draft class.

Rodgers did sit, but even he said recently that was 2005 and things have changed since then. Rodgers sat behind a HOF quarterback, Love is sitting behind a future HOF quarterback, Fields is sitting behind Dalton, that's a huge difference.

Yeah I mean I always kind of saw this year as a transition year where the team is likely mediocre. Fields gave me the ability to have hope for the future though. After keeping pace and Nagy and missing out on Wilson and getting Dalton I had zero hope
Respectfully, I do not see this year like that. This team is going to be one of the top rushing teams in the NFL this year. It's early yet; and let's not forget that Akiem Hicks destroys offensive linemen routinely every training camp. Just wait until they get to their one-on-one drills; I expect the same. Ironically, one of the only ones who ever blocked him successfully 1vs1 was Kyle Long.

Also, let's not forget that this defensive line with both Hicks and Goldman healthy led one of the top defenses in the league when they were both on the field. A big problem obviously has been keeping them healthy (or available) the last two years. I still think Desai will be labeled a mad-scientist after the first few games, and I do not underestimate the value of the addition of Mike Pettine.

Whether it's Dalton or Fields, they'll run the ball early and start lighting it up when teams focus on stopping the run.

I hope you are correct. I big performance out of the front 7 is definitely possible and can change a lot of things.

I'm not buying that he's sitting out for 3 straight days because of "tightness". Nagy said something the other day about discussions with Doctors. I don't think you're talking to doctors over some back tightness.

You can actually gleen alot of information by logic and parsing Nagy's words. Jenkins likely has a little pain. Not enough to make him feel he can't go. The Bears are finally getting their first detailed look at his physical condition. He most certainly has had an MRI by now. The MRI probably has some subtle findings. They are probably getting different spine surgeons to weigh in. Bears do not feel they are losing valuable time since it isn't full pads.

How this can go south? If Jenkins is under-reporting his pain. Not likely since he was a full participant in his pro-day. He did all the drills. Also, full rookie camp participant. So, not likely. If Jenkins has some musculoskeletal problem that will progress into something worse without surgery like an evolving disc herniation. This is always a possibility. You never know. But if I were a betting man, I would go with a "disc bulge" which has a lot of subjective interpretation and it's being sorted out.

Every year in training camp, the Bears defense always plays well against the Bears offense in full team drills. And then we get to the actual games and the defense is not as good.

It's almost as if the Bears offense has been bad or something compared to the rest of the league.
