My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Orlando Magic
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Tampa Bay Lightning
  1. Alabama Crimson Tide
Curious where he plays in this scheme. Edwards is more of a tackling machine and Edmunds is a sideline to sideline athlete. If they believe he can be Urlacher-lite then perhaps he's best suited as the MLB with Edwards as the weakside guy.

This deal tells me they are out on Dremont Jones and thought Edmunds was worth the overpay because of his age and skillset. Even if he doesn't play a premium position, the Bears had to pay somebody big money to reach the cap floor, and to me, I'd rather give out that money to somebody you know is really good over a RT who's "meh" but has the higher positional value.
Dremont Jones wants to play for browns

Off ball linebackers don't win you championships. You winn with QBs and line play.
Dumbass fanbase never learns.

LBs and FBs and mustaches and fire and passion.

oh, good a coverage LB with poor instincts and that doesn't make big plays and paid top dollar.

This signing makes my day. IMO its the ideal FA signing. Someone who fills a VITAL schematic need to a TEE, is only in his mid 20s.

Especially since the LB class in the draft is nothing to be desired. I was high on Trenton Simpson heading into the 2022 college football season, but he didn't appear to take that next step in his SR year. If anything he appeared to regress.

People that are mad that Poles signed a MIKE LB over DLINE help should eventually be quelled by the FACT that this draft class is LOADED with DLINE and INTERIOR OLINE talent. There are multiple standout 3 techniques in the draft well beyond just Carter.

IMO it's significantly harder to find a standout 4-3 TAMPA 2 MIKE in the draft or free agency, than it is Dline talent. Especially when you're talking about a MIKE with freak measurables, freak talent and the brains to run a 4-3 defense at the pro level like Edmunds.

Now if Poles will just draft the CENTER/GUARD -STEVE AVILA out of TCU we'll be trending in the right direction. We REALLY need a boulder of a CENTER that can get up the field in a ZONE blocking scheme to park in front of FIELDS. No more push over lightweights at the CENTER position.

A true quality CENTER will help FIELDS and his development the most. He can't get his feet set when MUSTIPHER is constantly getting duffed around the field like a wet rag.

All in all I LOVE the Edmunds signing. He was at the top of my offseason wishlist.

After 4 years in the league I can say, with confidence, he is not an Urlacher comp.

GENIUS!

So are we back to believing you should pay off-ball linebackers? Just trying to keep up.

I looked at the Bills Message board, It seems they are happy about Frazier being gone and our new linebacker as the majority. The others posters feel the Bills never used him right playing him at inside linebacker rather than outside.

Maybe you don't watch the bills, he's a playmaker and all pro

If you think his strengths are 'making plays' then you apparently don't watch them. He literally has interview quotes where he says he knows he needs to make more impact plays. He's a athletic guy with a wide wingspan that makes throwing against him difficult.

Spending all the money on LBs with the worst DL in football
KING POLES!

:Pace:

There were 3 DT's available for 32 teams in the NFL. All were greatly overpaid. Let's be patient.
Weak FA for WR's, DT's, DE's, OL's, etc...very low volume of FA in key positions. Cant do anything about that out of Poles control.

Wow when you put it that way, I'm not so stymied, now. Lets hope Poles has a plan in draft to get some?

On the surface, 18 mil a year sounds well overpriced. Would rather overspent on Jamel Dean or OT. I dont get why he is worth 11.5 mil a year more than TJ Edwards. And why let Roquan walk just to spend 18 mil on another LB? This is a position group I thought we should have left to the draft.

TJ was a steal, no doubt. He's worth more & many are still unsure how Poles got him so cheap.

So are we back to believing you should pay off-ball linebackers? Just trying to keep up.

This issue with Roquan was ONLY because "you don't pay an off-ball LB". But that's what dummy media and many on CCS were saying to simply him leaving. Not 100% wrong, but it takes a rare one to be worth the big bucks Ro & Edmonds are those guys. But Roquan was out there guessing a lot - and missing tackles (in this scheme). Not as good a fit. He's still a great player no doubt, but not the same at Edmonds in this scheme. Bears even made Roquan a stout offer. He turned it down. To his credit he got his in BAL. Whatya want?

2 LBs who are rockstars, and a great fit, plus a 2nd Rd pick. OR keep Roquan for the price of all that and no 2nd?

Easier to compare apples to apples now with hindsight, but Poles knew his limit & stuck to it. Now they're much better for it.
