I've been looking at some used ones as well. I'm having a hard time justifying spending 30k lol. Just not sure it's necessary. I've always been a GM guy myself, but my wife bought a Jeep Cherokee and I really like it actually. I was thinking about looking at some Wrangler Unlimited's. Anybody have any opinions on them?

idk about the unlimited but me fav vechile i ever had was a 97 wrangler.. had some big oversized tires wiff purrty blacked out rims.. went through snow like a knife through soft butter... i traded me 97 camaro for it... cause of snow.. neway.. was reliable.. but i always had a fear i was gonna flip when going around bends fast... so i just slowed down....but i got rid of it when i moved back south in the mid 00s.....i looked at a new one here just to perv on it last year.. man the interiors have gone all fancy and shit..

ps.. had a hard top and soft top... soft tops.. hahahaha if you got fears someone will get in yo ride.. velcro and a zipper is all dat be stopping them..

I was thinking either keep my Silverado 1500 and sell my vet to get a new one or sell my 1500 and get a new Denali 2500. Idk about paying 65000 for a pick up truck though

Yeah the price tag of new trucks is ridiculous. If I buy new i will do so when they have their 0% interest promotions and just finance it. I've been looking at used trucks as well but the prices have soared. Guys in my area are selling 2002 toyota tundra's with 200k mile for 20k. I bought a brand new tundra loaded in 2002 for 29k out the door. I should have kept that truck. Times have certainly changed.

yup bought my 1500 fully loaded except leather for 26000 three years ago. Things definitely are higher. My bro leased a chrysler 300 three years ago fully loaded with everything a-z for 220 a month and last year turned it in for samething at 306 a month. Im probably better off selling the vet and just keeping my truck for another year until some rebates roll through if the big three get desperate. I would rather lease but miles kill me. I tell you one thing I love chrysler trucks but outside of a two year lease the quality is shit

Because trucks have followed inflation even though income hasn't... Simple explanation given to me by a car/truck salesman.

this. The degree of inflation on the dollar has been well hidden by keeping a few staples low. Also hiding the property loss everyone is experiencing as they "flip" houses.

Don't worry, when we get desperate enough they will give $15 minimum wage and double the price of gas and food staples overnight, it will catch up and we can pay $8 for an ounce of cheese like the Swiss.

I don't buy that. I bought a Ram back in '96. It was a 1500 extended-cab Sport. 4x4, V8, loaded. It was just short of $26,000. Whoever designed the 1994 Ram with the big-rig front end was brilliant. A few years before that, a similarly equipped D150 was $15,000. A simple design change skyrocketed sales and they haven't taken a step back since.

A 1500 Ram with the same options now? $44,600. Load up a 3500 and you're looking at a $60,000+ pickup truck. Ridiculous.

Tjodalv hit on it somewhat. Some of the price increases throughout the years come with refinements... the rest of it comes down to the fact that people are willing (& stupid?) to drop 40K+ on a pickup truck.

A friend of mine just spent 65k on a truck and has 800$ Truck payments. I will never forget the day he came home and told his family that there wasn't going to be any vacations the next few years LMFAO. His ***** of a wife came over and drank beer the rest of the night and crashed on my couch she was so pissed at him.

If you spend that much on a truck you are probably a BETA male trying to be an ALPHA. It's much easier to just be a true ALPHA like me.

That is actually the point my buddy was making is that people arent buying pickups or tahoes or things like that right now because they are so damn expensive. people cannot afford a 60k truck because their income wont support it when it is like having two house payments each month.

I was just talking to a guy that has a sweet ass dodge diesel, works out in the boonies and has to get out to do work so it is reasonable for him to have it, but when he said his truck payment was "Only 700 a month" like he got it for a steal I think you might have actually seen my jaw hit the floor. No thank you!

I was paying almost $300 a month for the Ram and that was the last and highest car payment I ever had. I was younger, single and had a lot more disposable income at the time. Now I have gastric episodes thinking about car payments going over $250.

Trucks aren't cheap to run either. I was paying $270+ a month for gas thanks to 14mpg... and that was downhill with a tailwind. It was a fun ride and I miss it (except for being a 24/7 on-call mover), but after I got married and we finished renovating the house, I got rid of it quick.
