Turco Starting Again?

Can someone explain to me why he is starting again? I haven't heard a good reason yet from Q, and the bigger question is why he started out of the break?

It throws up some red flags for me about what the FO is doing. Its either "hey we signed this guy and we are going to play him no matter what" or maybe they are showcasing him for a trade.

Thoughts? Explanations?

not really sure.

I think he started the CBJ game because CC was had a few shitty games before the break. Hes a rookie he needs some rest.

Well probably see CC after turco gets lit the **** up by the canucks anyways.

This may be a tough game tonite. I may be shutting it off after the 1st period.

It's ok, Nick Boynton is in the lineup again. All is good.

I vote neither.

Turco won his last game and Q is giving him another start. That's it. Vancouver is a tough team and this will serve as a test for Marty to see where he's at.

Seems pretty obvious to me.

Turco gave up 4 goals to a Blue Jackets team that sucks offensively.

Yeah, well deserved. :obama:

EJ Hradek re-tweeted a tweet by some guy yesterday saying the Hawks were showcasing Turco for a trade...take it for what it's worth

I don't think it's worth anything. No chance he gets traded.

All things considered, he's a fantastic backup.

Why isn't there a chance? If you get a decent offer you gotta take for an expiring contract.

I doubt hes worth enough to get much but maybe. Def a solid backup.

A guy with a save % of 89 & GAA of 3.10 isn't "fantastic".

Who's the backup if Marty gets moved? Toivonen?

You can look at Marty as an expiring contract, but the guy's trade value is incredibly low (he's probably not going to return a legit center). Given his stats this season + his age, he's now a certified backup league wide. Maybe he could be a 1-2 year stop gap starter for a non-contender, but there's really no shortage of young, promising goalies and who's to say Marty wants to go to a non-contender.

All things considered, I would say no team needs/wants Turco more than Chicago. He's a perfect fit here and his contract is a complete non-issue.

That's why I think he has no chance of moving.

Fantastic BACKUP. You left that part out.

His stats are fine for a backup, he's a good guy with a good attitude, he has a lot of experience and his contract is good. I think he's a fantastic backup.

If the Hawks "D" could play conistently, Turco's numbers would at least be top 10 in the league

Why not Toivonen? I take a trade of Turco to be the FO punting on the season (which is understandable).

If you punt on the season (and realistically I think anyone that actually thinks the team wouldn't be quickly exited the playoffs if they were to start tomorrow would be wrong). . . so you go March and April with anyone who fits the pads as a backup - of course, it all depends upon what you get in return.

Think package -if moved. And as a backup or insurance, I'm sure Turco is movable ... I bet Philadelphia would have taken him over whats-his-name last season in a second. :)

Trade Turco, sign Ray Emery as your backup for the rest of the season.

IF we hang on to Turco for the rest of the year, I wouldn't mind Hawks re-signing him next offseason for under 1 mil to be our BACKUP
