I effing love supernatural!! I'm glad it's still on because it was originally supposed to only be 5 seasons. The episode a few weeks ago with Felicia Day was hilarious.

I just finished season 6 and started season 7. I could totally see how they could have ended it in season 5, it even seemed like that was the end and continuing the show was a post production idea. There was something in the ending in season 5 that still needs explaining.

Supernatural was originally only planned by Eric Kripke to last through Season 5, if it were to make it that far, it has, and if it weren't for the fact that it has a small but rabidly loyal fan base and that so few of the CW's other shows have had as much staying power they probably would have canceled it long before now. I haven't been a big fan of season's 6 and 7 but they've had their moments like season 6's The French Mistake where the Winchesters get transported to another reality where they're stars of a show called Supernatural. I think it misses Kripke and has overall played itself out, the jokes aren't as funny any more and after the whole angel/demon apocalypse it seems like they just don't have any real direction, (Umm... lets try purgatory.. now lets try Leviathans...).

The problem is its difficult to come up with a bigger, badder enemy than Satan himself as far as season 6 and 7 are concerned.

I think they realized this and I think thats why season 6 appeared to have more things going on, although 7, so far to me, seems just about the leviathan. One thing I like about the show is they have no problems killing off characters (Although with Sam and Dean, death always seems to be less permanent)

I still like the show alot, one big difference for me from after the first 2 seasons id say, They "humanized" the demons a little too much. They kind of cease to be scary anymore.

Ladies and gentlemen, in 2 weeks I present to you the worst and final season of true blood. Vampires have ran its course as well thank god. Now is the time of fantasy. Long live game of thrones and its clones.

The second to last episode of this season (Game Of Thrones) may have possibly been the best episode of any hour long drama I have ever seen. People can have their boring ass vampire shit. I have never seen a battle filmed so perfectly in any movie or television series. It blew my mind.

True Blood will not be ended by GoT, run at different times of the year. Also True Blood is kick ass. GoT is epic but TB is still a good show

Why can't they bring back good shows like, "BJ and the Bear?"

You totally missed the point. One show has nothing to do with the other.

So you are just suggesting the Vampire crazy and genre will recede after dominating most of the last decade and now the fantasy genre will come to the forefront and be mainstream. Is that what you are trying to suggest?

I don't feel this will be the last season of True Blood. Sure Twilight is done and ran its course but True Blood stands on its own two feet quite well. As for the fantasy genre, outside of GoT I don't know of any other widely accepted fantasy shows. Is there something coming out next season that looks good from the genre?

As much as I like Deadliest Catch and Hardcore Pawn (which one day I will tire of) i can't wait to see the end of reality TV, All of it, including the Deadliest Catch and Pawn shows. The history channels are hot fucking garbage because of these shows. Discovery hasn't been consistently good since the mid 90s. Sure has great specials on every so often but overall it is shit. TLC never "recovered" from when it was the Trading Spaces or some other home remodeling bullshit channel. Animal Planet survived being the Animal Cops channel to become the dog whisperer channel. Science channel is starting its erosion. It had the reality show Oddities which was neat and interesting but now they are getting Oddities: San Francisco, so it wont be long before that channel isn't even worth watching either.

I get it, these shows pull good ratings compared to the educational documentaries and I get it they are a business that needs those ratings to get ad dollars. However to a guy that loved all those documentaries it fucking sucks. The documentary channel rarely has any documentaries that interest me. So pretty much I'm fucked in that area.

Couldnt agree with you more RE: the educational channels downfall.

At least history 2 seems to still just show documentaries although its crazy hair guy ancient aliens 90% of the time.

I too remember when TLC had *gasp* documentaries, and it wasnt all home improvement BS. Why do people watch reality shows, i simply dont get it. Deadliest Catch?Show me an hour long documentary on fucking coastal fisherman, boom, know all I need to know. i don't need 8 seasons of wondering whether fisherman joey is banging the captains wife on shore leave or whatever.

Or Axemen and ice road truckers, same fuggin deal. How exactly is Axemen and Ice road truckers history related? both of those bullshit shows could have been 1 hour long documentaries and end of story.

This nations obsession with being on the outside looking in to peoples "real lives" fucking baffles me.

No History 2 is the ancient aliens channel, every time I see what is on that channel it is ancient aliens all night long. So **** that channel.

I get what you are saying about Deadliest Catch but I think part of it is the naturally occurring drama of the show. Are they going to get their quota this year, how the hell are they going to weather this storm, the ship is down an engine how will it navigate the rough seas. I love the show and Mike Rowe said it best, the weather is the real star. Those storms....jesus fucking christ that is some nasty weather.

I watched Axemen for 3 seasons and just got sick of it. Ice Road Truckers I watched one season before being done with it.

I love Deadliest Catch but if it was a casualty of returning to educational shit then I'd gladly make that sacrafice.

Caught a few episodes of that show, "Black Out" on SciFi. It's basically Fear Factor in the dark. They pull contestants from what seems like only 4 different categories: fat people, REALLY *** guys, douche-bags and cute/hot girls. Urklel hosts it and I'm pretty sure he's just collecting a paycheck as his only point is to introduce the show and give lame sound-bite encouragement/slams throughout the three rounds of "competition."

While the reactions of the contestants can be pretty funny, some of the challenges don't look like they've been fully vetted before having folks actually do them. Also, the variation of events could be greater - it feels like they thought of a couple things and then just randomize them betweeen episodes. This does little to increase the challenge as rounds go on.

If there's absoultely nothing else on tv or you just want to see a *** guy stick his nose in another dude's ass in the dark and hear things like, "Hmmm... this smells really really familiar to me" this might be your cup of tea.

Also, don't know if it's Comcast or Comedy Central... but why wasn't the new ep of Tosh.0 put on On Demand right away?

Speaking of history channel. Is anyone watching Hatfield and Macoys? I missed part one so wondering if its worth the download before part two on monday.

Supra..reality tv isnt going anywhere. Its cheap to produce and fast to produce. Less unions actors and agents to go through also. Cheap and easy is the way most things are produced now so television certainly isnt immune to that.

Also there are a thousand specialty channels now so cheaper the better when it comes to original programming. When i was 19 there were maybe 7 specialty channels one could get if they didnt have a dish. Now there are at least 50. Too many television channels all saturating the market.

However as far as hour dramas? Not sure but i would say the last 6 years have probably produced the strongest ones ever. Thanks to channels like hbo showtime and amc. Expensive damn shows so the stations and production companies have to make money as to fund them. Thats where cheap and profitable reality shows come in.

As for the history channel. Its still the channel i watch the most. Its def saturated with some bad reality shows but like you said a few are still really good. I remember the history channel 8 years ago..it was nothing but hitler and ww1 and ww2 stuff. It got old fast in my opinion. I actually prefer it better now with shows like Battles B.C. Museum Secrets Outlaw Bikers Ancient Discoveries. Hell even Ancient Alliens is worth some good laughs. I got tired of watching old war footage...not that i dont like it but history channel really whored that stuff out for years and years.
