It is a all-in-one entertainment center that allows you to get rid of all your other hardware and remotes. All the apps we know are already pre-installed like you might know it from products like AppleTV, Amazon Firestick etc. But there is a main differnce - it allows you to watch anything for free. With no subscriptions or monthly bills.
But how can you watch for free? The secret to that is an app called KODI. TVFrog has completely reprogrammed and redesigned it so it works even easier. The TVFrog technology searches the internet where it will locate and stream, virtually any television show, hollywood movie, or live sports event you want to watch without having to worry about paying rental fees or monthly subscriptions.

To good to be true ?

There are a lot of these coming out right now. There is another one called Ninja tv or something like that.

I am not sold on them yet. The local guy I ran into, selling something similar wanted 400 bucks for one, my cousin has one that worked OK for streaming new movies and sports. I do not think his was that expensive.

Some guy tried to sell me one for $400. Can't remember the brand though. I was hoping someone on here had one so I could get the skinny on them.

Yea my cousins was a bummer to use with the remote, so he bought a little univeral keyboard remote with it and it worked great. I think he paid less than 200 for his, I will have to ask him.

Sometimes would have to try multiple times to get a good copy of a movie, but usually the sports stuff was decent. I think we watched a baseball game on it because he ditched directv and it was on TBS or something.

So this is a paid advertisement on a blog. Not a real review or article.

Kodi can be used on lots of devices, and this TV frog deal is far from good. Looks like it's kodi on top of spoofed android 2.3(spoofed to say 4.4, when it's not) because China is loaded with these overclocked dual core mediatek clone CPUs. The old ass 2.6 kernel base is the dead giveaway, maybe they spoofed different kernel versions too.

So they basically whip these shit devices together, flood the world with them with spyware preinstalled onto the device. They datamine parts of your activity, log account details and passwords, then sell those accounts or steal card/identity info linked to any account to make small hard to notice purchases somewhere down the line.

So in short.

:AVOID THIS:

Roku Premiere is the best all-around streaming player for the price right now. Sideload KODI on there and get the best of all worlds. Not the Roku express, those are not kodi friendly. If you have a few extra bucks, the nVidia shield is amazing, fast performance and you have access to a lot of games.

[h=3]But is it legal?[/h] YES the device itself is completely legal.

But it's not our fault if you turn it on.
Lol.

So whats the advantage of Roku Premiere $70, over Amazon Fire Stick $40?

The 2016 Fire Stick is also in that top tier, lot of performance potential for the price, but the price is subsidized to be cheaper for prime members. So if you use Amazon Prime, then by all means, as Amazon has done a great job with hardware for the price IMO. There are also Roku models with a SD slot for added storage, which is a nice touch.

I have a *crazy IMO* little project streaming box that I built in January. If anyone is into this stuff, there are some fun things you can do. Building things for some people are more entertaining than watching shows, so it's a win:win for many.

I have no cable and a Roku, Sling TV ($30) and local channels. I get access to all the sports I could need. Borrowed my brothers DirectTV login for ESPN and buy him a case of beer once a year just for MNF and other random games on ESPN.

Thanks, my daughter has a Fire Stick with Kodi and I'm impressed.

Back in the '80's my sis knew some guys that ran a BBS that specialized in breaking security software on computer games. They would post a newly cracked game and someone would ask them if it was a good game, same answer every time, "we have no idea, we don't play computer games, just crack them".

I have no idea which is better.

I'm just here to tell you that the gif in your sig makes me sad.

It has a positive and uplifting message. The Racoon made a mistake, it could have been fatal, but he survived and has learned an invaluable life lesson, 'don't **** with the Monkeys'. A few bumps and bruises is a small price to pay for such vital knowledge.

Just ordered a generic S912 based unit. These S905/S912 devices need some intermediate skills to do the things you want, an advanced skills to turn them into a full server. But the performance is close to a $300 shield but the hardware is more open in the reference designs.

https://www.amazon.com/Docooler-And...=amlogic+s912+3gb&refinements=p_72:1248879011

Cheaper ones exist too, I'm getting this specific one(not from amazon, I'm only paying $55 shipped) because it uses a reference board with decent documentation to hack. I was hoping to get a Rockchip RK3399 6core board but they are hard to find for the price I want to spend.

Just thought I'd pass on more, because these set-top streaming boxes/sticks are getting super common, and maybe we can continue the topic a bit. I'll admit, every time I think I have this segment figured out, I find 2-3 more chipsets that require reassessing the whole thing. Would love to hear more from those who know other things/more. I'm learning quick that what I said about Roku and Amazon are NOT correct. While both make great devices, neither are anywhere near the top in performance. NVidia shield 2017 model is still the most powerful AFAIK.

Crys is this accurate for all these TVFrog devices?

My ma actually e-mailed me asking about TVFrog like a day or 2 after you posted this and I steered her away from it.

In general she is too low level tech-wise to be messing with these cut-the-cord devices, so regardless I was gonna steer her away from it, but curious if the statements I bolded are true for TVFrog in general.

Wouldn't know if it's good or not...but I use a HDHomerun Prime 3-tuner box for cable, and the DVR engine is run on my NAS using....Kodi.

Kodi, while not polished enough for the great unwashed to use, is damned powerful. A couple of buddies have a plugin for it that automatically links them to NHL greymarket streams--among other sports.
