Draino kills cancer cells. As does alcohol, radiation and bleach.

"They say studies in mice and rats show cannabinoids may be able to kill cancer cells - while still protecting normal cells."

Yerp, we've known this for a while. Problem is, people will use this as an excuse to smoke weed, which is another problem. Treating a problem that isn't there is not an excuse to toke up. Now, being honest and just using it recreationally, that is their choice.

Lots of things can kill cancer but if it isn't going to make the medical industry a shit ton of money you won't see it prescribed or administered by any doctor.

I am 61 and grew pot after I got out of the military. Nothing wrong with it in my mind unless you let it control your life. No different than alcohol in my feeble mind. Except it doesn't destroy your liver.

A big part of the problem though, is the draconian drug laws in this country have held back research big time. It will be interesting to see the science around cannabinoids in the coming years.

I would agree with you though. Lots of people using the medical excuse to use it recreationally.

Of course, I agree with it recreationally but if people said that. It would get less support from the non smokers. People no matter what and on whatever side are always going to do or say things to get what they want. There will always be an angle.

I like this doctor:

"Research has shown that small doses of cannabinoids from cannabis can signal the body to make more endocannabinoids and build more cannabinoid receptors. This is why many first-time cannabis users don't feel an effect, but by their second or third time using the herb they have built more cannabinoid receptors and are ready to respond. More receptors increase a person's sensitivity to cannabinoids; smaller doses have larger effects, and the individual has an enhanced baseline of endocannabinoid activity. I believe that small, regular doses of cannabis might act as a tonic to our most central physiologic healing system."

The Feds are still targeting legal growers for prosecution, and will continue to do so as long it remains a schedule 1 drug.

You're close.

It was classified as a schedule 1 after big pharma realized:
A. Plants cannot be patented.
B. Synthetic forms of THC don't work.

And therefore, mass amounts of "special interest" contributions were given to the Nixon administration so as to eliminate the competition.
