22. Chicago Bears: A defense that made great strides in 2015 under its new 3-4 alignment should further benefit with rookies Leonard Floyd and Jonathan Bullard joining the front seven. However an offense that has a hole at left tackle and bid adieu to RB Matt Forte and coordinator Adam Gase could suffer a significant setback.

The blog complaining about it:

The blog is incorrect; #22 would be the 11th worst, but the point still stands I guess.

Uneducated people

It says what some people believe to be the case: forward step for the defense, backward step for the offense. It's also something different to the fluff from PFF about how great the Bears have done. Varying alternative viewpoints are a good thing.

They have a point about the offense but they fail to mention that Cutler will carry the unit, don't you trust Cutler?

People only want to believe the fluff pieces. I too feel we improved a ton on D but there are loads of "?" on O and only time will answer those. It could turn out fine but those "?" are there at this time - well at least to those without blinders on.

Bears got younger and better. Not worried about losing Gase and his offense that ranked 21st in yards per game and 23rd in points per game.

The Bears defense went from 30th in yards per game and 31st in points per game in 2014 to 14th in yards per game and 20th in points per game in one season under Fangio with minimal changes to the roster. Adding Trevathan, Freeman, Hicks, Floyd and Bullard to that unit is something to get excited about. If the special teams can improve and the offense can focus on not putting the defense in short-field situations the defense should light it up.

Except we far improved the defense compared to the offensive losses. Considering John Fox's coaching style of playing it safe and leaning on the defense I would lean towards a net improvement not a net loss.

Well at least it is a counter argument from all the praise the team has been getting the past few weeks. That being said I feel the loss of Forte won't hurt as much as this article is saying but I am worried about the departure of gase. So one piece condemning the bears out of the rest that have praised them. Still equals speculation

It's hard to argue that the offense won't regress significantly, given that they've lost some of the best players at their players on offense in Forte, Bennett, and Slauson, not to mention their offensive coordinator. Sure, they've got Kevin White to pick up the slack, but he's unproven and coming off a significant injury. I do like what they've done on defense, but offense has me worried.

The players sure, Gase? Nah fam. Worrying about losing Gase is like worrying about losing Trestman. **** that.
