Williams old teammate and predicted as a third round pick. Should Bears go after him?

He played tackle when Williams was at USC. He can swing.

No it isn't. Just taking any O linemen is not smart.

No one "just takes any", but the Bears do need to take some offensive linemen. 4 of 5 positions are bereft of talent. They can't just ignore the issue because "experts" say the draft sucks.

I'm not advocating for bodies for the sake of bodies early in the draft, but the Bears lack depth as well.

Here's the deal.

The offensive line only has Darnell Wright. Every other position is expendable and the depth is horrible.

It's not just a matter of getting quality starters in there. Its also about quality depth.

This draft is weak on offensive line in most areas, but has a gross abundance of either left guards or tackles who project as left guards in the league. And a lot of time, you can convert a LG into a RG.

This is a solid draft to fix the interior of the line, at least to a point where you can get it stable, if not at a top level.

Even if the guys you draft this year become your backups the following year because of a stronger draft in 2026, THAT IS OK.

Because like I said, there is no quality depth. So stabilizing the line with what you can this year and then upgrading next year is a viable option, because there is no one who is worth keeping right now (Tev comes the closest but he is hurt a lot and also is out of contract).

So, when I say I will take any offensive linemen from the draft, its not a permanent take, but a reflection of how bad and devoid of talent the offensive line room is. I'm saying I wouldn't hate it if they took EVERY pick from this draft and drafted interior linemen, and let them battle it out to start.

I'll feel differently next year, but I said what I said, because that is precisely how dire the talent situation for the Bears at the O-line position is.

I don't follow college football but isn't Kruetz's kid a junior at Illinois? If he declares is he worth it?

Most of the online prospect sites for whatever thats worth have him as a 4th-5th round pick. Wouldnt hate it if he's the pick at 148 although depending on how FA and rest of draft go there might be a better options there.

Arm length size queens won’t like him at all…they’re incompetent, and never should be taken seriously.

He’s versatile. Played RT, LT, RG, and C. He fits new age offensive linemen or ‘agile’ for the video gamers, meaning he has to run/get to a spot and block as opposed to blocking guy directly in front of him. Could be depth immediately and kick a preinjured, bum ass Ryan bates to retirement where he belongs. Bench year 1 unless injuries force him in.

Only legit knock is his penalties. Heavily penalized in 2022, which lessened in 23. He had a bad few reps against Braylen Trice before his bad injury. But I don’t put so much stock in that because elite defenders DO beat elite OT.

Like every other non-elite prospect, he’ll have to polish his game for the next level and adjust to NfL speed.

Arm Length is honestly the biggest knock on this draft. Even the top prospects have shorter arms for tackles, which is why scouts have even the top rated tackle as a prospective guard in the NFL.

It appears to be the OL T-Rex draft, the way scouts tell it.

That’s what they said about his old man, so…
Olin was a consensus All American at Washington. His son is an honorable mention All Big 10 which means one coach voted for him.

He should stay in college and in the weight room and see if he can add 15 pounds of muscle and then aim for next year.
