How or why did you choose your user name?

On a previous board I was Midway Monster... Obvious Bears reference.
When I joined here I just went with Monster.

I used to be Gustav on CBMB. I was going through a serious Gustav Mahler phase at the time. Not that most of you uncultured fucks would know who that is. A certain Angelo draft pick (Conte) caused me to use one to many curse words for the mods and I was banned.

I made an alt account later that night after having read BaBaBlacksheep to my daughter. It's a dumb name and I was expecting the account to be temporary after my ban was lifted. It never was.

"Jamais Vu" is the polar opposite of the phrase "Deja Vu".

So rather than seeing something you have never seen and thinking you have seen it before...jamais vu is something you have seen repeatedly, but you do not recognize it at all. It's a condition I think all Bears fans need to be inflicted with to keep watching the same crap out of this team every season and go into another offseason just as hopeful as the last.

I chose my name because I used to be a huge fan of Hunter S. Thompson, who occasionally described himself as a "doctor of gonzo journalism". As I've matured I've come to realize he was a deeply disturbed and unhappy person, and frankly an asshole. However I believe his writing still stands as some of the best political commentary and satire of all time, so I've never seriously thought about changing my username. I work in health care and occasionally comment on medically related threads and it has occurred to me that people might think I'm trying to pass myself off as an actual doctor, which would be uncool.
