+1

JT sets the bar high through both his words & actions, but there is strong leadership in many forms in that room.

It'd be funny if Bowman called his bluff there. Nothing against Toews, but...he cares. Every player does. Otherwise, if he REALLY didn't care, he could've signed for the league minimum ensuring pretty much everyone stays. And Kane could've done the same, and Keith. But that's never going to happen. I just kinda shrug these comments off. Again, nothing against Toews or Keith or Kane, they're all very good players, Toews is a great leader, and their current contracts in no way overvalues them in comparison to the rest of the league, but....they care.

By bolding only part of his statement, you are taking him out of context. He said that "unless we can do it together, I don't really care about my contract." Totally diferent meaning than what you think he said. Of course he cares about his contract, but he cares more about the team than his personal goals, especially during the season. That is what I understand him to be saying.

I didn't bold that part of it. That was what Akebono did in his post. I took it in full context and it still doesn't make sense to where you're going with it. I don't see the different meaning.

In a way, the cap situation is a good thing because it forced them to re-build immediately. If it'd been only half as bad, they might have re-tooled with aging players who might have only been around for a couple of years ( meanwhile the core gets older ), instead of bringing in the young guys who have a chance to develop while the core is still young. It gives this team the time it needs to re-build and be great for more years than it would have been if they'd brought in older players. It'll turn out to be the silver-lining in all of this, IMO.

"I'll take English comprehension for 500, Alex."

You took the entire statement out context because you fail to comprehend its meaning. JT is simply saying that last season he didn't want to do his extension if all three of them couldn't do it together because of the unrest it would have caused amongst the team and in the locker room. Its plain as day and not that difficult to understand.

Yeah I almost creamed myself reading that quote. I no longer have a single bit of doubt that Mr. Toews will wear blackhawk red until he retires or maybe do a couple years in Winnipeg in the twilight of his career if they get a team but he'd still be thought of as a hawk.

Agreed - he's a great guy and a lot more mature than most at age 22. I like how he handles himself off the ice as well - always the professional. I worry about Kane and future 'incidents' with him but Toews I have no worries. People love him here and he has the opportunity to be the Bobby Hull of the next generation - player, ambassador, and loved by the fans.

Interesting. If you new certain things before that statement you'd probably worry about both of them.

Both are kids and I have no doubt will have no huge incidents in the future.

and FYI Bobby Hull abused his wife. That's your Chicago Blackhawk Ambassador. I truly hope neither Patrick or Jonathan are anything like him.

"1960 was also a pivotal year in Hull's personal life. After a short-lived marriage as a teenager, Hull wed the former Joanne McKay, who had performed as an ice skater. The couple eventually had five children before divorcing in 1980. The latter event made headlines across North America for the allegations of adultery and spousal abuse leveled at Hull, including one incident that occurred in Hawaii in 1966. According to his wife, Hull had beaten her with a steel-heeled shoe before hanging her over a balcony ledge. She left him in 1970 but they reconciled and stayed together for another ten years. Joanne McKay Hull moved to Vancouver with their children and eventually remarried. After several years of estrangement, Hull started to rebuild his relationship with his children, who included NHL player Brett Hull. In 1984 Hull married for a third time; his marriage to Deborah Hull also made headlines when he was charged with assault and battery against his wife. The complaint was later withdrawn, but Hull pled guilty to a charge of assaulting a police officer who had come to make the initial arrest.

I'm glad I didn't ask him for a hug at the convention.

both are excellent kids, with excellent support groups around them. Nothing like the players of old. Not even close.

Kids will be kids. Especially kids making 50 million.

Very valid point. I was there a couple of years ago when Bobby said a statement in front of a few of the Hawks. Not only was the mother standing there with her child in shock, but so too were the few "young" Hawks at the time.

One of the funniest things I've ever seen. Bobby is what you get. Which is why he's never left in front of the camera too long. Never know whats coming out of that mouth!
