It is certainly a real possibility that Jimmy signs with the Blackhawks. The interesting part here is the employment of Jim Vesey (dad) and that his future is actually being brought up in meetings. Whoever does end up signing Jimmy (if it isn't Toronto) just wait a few months and Jim Vesey (dad) will probably be employed by a new "mystery" team as well.

Heard on ESPN1000 that it's between the Hawks and Rangers -- every other team is OUT. Will announce his decision this afternoon.

Wow -- Vesey to the Hawks would be another massive coup. He'll join a team with multiple HOF'ers (Towes, Kane, Keith, Hossa) and multiple top level players (Nic, Seabrook, Bread Man, etc).

If Stany can pull this off and land Vesey - it'll be a huge acquisition.

Aside from the Dynasty Bulls, the Hawks of the 2010's are the greatest organization I've ever been a fan of. And it's not even close. And if Bowman can find a way to win two more Cups over the next 4 years -- they will be in the conversation with The Dynasty Bulls of the 90's.

fuck...New York trying to sell the kid on New York and that team they have. I don't buy the Rangers at all, Lunquist is showing signs of wearing down, and they suck donkey balls without him covering their defense, and with Boyle gone now.

I can see how they think they are contenders...but are actually not when faced against the elite (Kings/Hawks/Blues/Capitals/Penguins/Lightning)

Exhale,* hockey fans: the decision is in. Jimmy Vesey officially chose the New York Rangers as his free agent destination.

One would assume that Vesey will sign a two-year, entry-level contract loaded with bonuses. We’ll need to wait and see about official details, however, but the important thing to note is that the CBA limits the cap impact for the Rangers.

(That’s a big reason why he drew so much attention; it’s a pretty low-risk move.)

This completes quite the road for the 23-year-old. He went from spurning the Nashville Predators, the team that drafted him, to deciding against signing with the Buffalo Sabres after they spent a third-rounder to acquire his rights.

Stars from Sidney Crosby to Patrick Kane to John Tavares all came out to try to lure him to their respective teams. Many believed he might lean toward the Boston Bruins, a team so close to home for the Harvard forward.

Instead, he’s going to the Rangers. It will be interesting to hear Vesey go into his reasoning for choosing this team, whether that comes tonight or sometime in the future.
