Although I really enjoy computer gaming, I have never ever been a fan of shooter games. I think I would have to side with the conservative crowd that these games have become just a little too graphic and de-sensitizing. The fact of the matter is, that no matter the games rating and vigilance of parents, there will be millions of preteens playing these games. Do we really need fat little Norman porking out on Bugles and slaying a populace? I for one would rather have fat little Norman out riding bikes with his friends and throwing rocks at trains.

Oh, well...

Then be a parent and say "No" to Fat Norman. Do your job if you don't want your kids playing those games. Don't ***** and complain about it because you can't do your job as a parent. What you posted so fit the stereotypical mass regurgitated bullshit statement about video games and their "impact".

You and everyone who makes these kind of arguments are always missing the larger point, always blind to the most important aspect of the entire debate. It's not about whether or not the game lets you kill X amount of people, or what it depicts, be it drug use, prostitution, corruption, etc. It's that you simply don't agree with how a person or a group of people chose to express themselves and their creativity through their work in whatever medium of art (be it in a book, TV, movie, video game, sculpture, painting, etc) and because you are so bothered by it, instead of being "normal" and just not participating in reading the book or watching the movie or playing the game, you choose to support ideas that try to govern that content for ALL people, regardless of whether they are a "fan" of it or just indifferent to it. People who are responsible, who are mature enough to separate reality from fiction, who see it as what it is and nothing more. You want to censor and restrain those people who might make that kind of art because you simply don't like it. Nothing more, it's nothing deeper than that.

What are you trying to do? Can you not see the incredible irony in behaving this way in our so called "Land of the Free"?

Here's the rub. I watched Rambo First Blood Part II (bonus points for title) at 8. I played Road Rash II at 9 or 10. Road Rash you are illegally street racing on crotch rockets and to win you have to fight other bikers with fists, clubs, or a Chain (was the best weapon), you had cops chasing you and you had to fight them too.

Yet I've killed no one never beat anyone up (outside the rare schoolyard fight). Hell I can count the number of punches I've thrown in anger on one hand. Hell I'm more violent when I play hockey than anywhere else.

But my dad primarily taught me right from wrong and that there are consequences for my actions. Now he didn't kick my ass often hell I think he did maybe 3-5 times but I damn sure remember them to this day.

My point is all these studies are bullshit. Parents (well it seems most of them) suck at their job as parents. I have played violent video games most of my life, I have watch violent movies all my life, the first movie I can remember watching is Raiders of the Lost Ark, my favorite movie was Batman. They are violent, yet I am not. Also that was the first time I watched the Fox segment on Mass Effect. I got news for those morons as a man women are objects of desire BUT they are objects with feelings and emotions and all that human stuff so are they objects yes they have mass but they are also people. Also I've played Mass Effect, both of them, the women in the game aren't there just so you can plow them they help you fight and save the universe, they are a part of your team just like the men on your team.

Howcho doesn't actually express any governing of these games. I don't know where you are reading that and hell I'm a gamer and agree fat norman needs to get his fat ass outside every now and then and play some football or something. All howcho said is those games aren't his speed. I can respect that.

Variable, I was expressing an opinion, nothing more. I was not telling you not to play them, frankly I could not give a shit what you do.

Obviously you are a fan of these games and you have provided us with a stunning example of your impaired social function.

Wow, I rest my case.
