I don't think with gays we're anywhere near the "shut the **** up and move on" phase yet though. To parallel this with the racial issues: if a black person falls in love with a white person, their relationship can be sacrosanct under law; their marriage has legal standing in all 50 states, and if they have kids, or get legal guardianship of an adopted kid, no one can really challenge their rights to custody unless they have some significant legal standing; i.e. accusations of incest or abuse. Their rights of estate and inheritance are also guarenteed.

Gays on the other hand, cannot have a marriage sacrosant in all 50 states, their rghts of inheritance can be challenged, along with their custodial rights. IMHO until that changes across the board i can see why they would be in-your-face about it because it's not anywhere near a level playing field yet.

Exactly. Which is why I asked Supra, how do you want them to "take equality"? By being silent? By not trying to reach out to other people who are *** but feel afraid to come out and say so? I just, I don't get it. I don't get how people think like that. It's blatantly still a problem in this country, no matter how many people you know that aren't bigoted.

Just having to blend in and be like everyone else is exactly the problem they are trying to fix.
