And you do if the puck is there? Face it, a cheap shot is a cheap shot.... sure Keith's was a cheap shot -but you know, get real - it doesn't even matter if it was a cheap shot to the head --- as one to the groin is the same exact thing. Sorta like being thrown out by a mile trying to steal and you spike the fielder....

Anyways it is actually all a sign of the times... hockey has gotten to be a slash and hack cheap shot sport ever since they decided to "address that brutal fighting". Pathetic, really ... at least there you had some sort of a chance at actually coming to a defacto understanding what acceptable rules were out on the rink...

I say no because I think hit made that worth it.

Doan on the other hand got way too few for his hit, that's where the big consistency issue comes from.

Also, can't believe that the Canucks get out of that game with NOTHING. No suspensions, I can tolerate. But there has to be some sort of punishment for the shit they were pulling out there. Sedin's hit on Keith is one, Burrows with his knee on Keith's groin in a scrap is another.

Sedin being hurt in the game should not give the rest of his team immunity from discipline for being the typical Canucks.

I agree. Vancouver is the Miami Heat of the NHL. The team everyone loves to hate....idiot coach whose players play the same cheap way he did. They cry, they *****..its so bad that even their own moronic fans attempt to burn down their OWN city after yet another playoff choke. Yet the NHL sees nothing but halos on this team. By their lack of action...they are condoning the kneeing, hair pulling, biting etc. that are benchmarks of this team. This is Bettman's mismangement at its finest. How do you think Roger Goodell would handle this team? Hell, how would he handle the concussion epidemic?

This league is already in a pinch battle with the NBA for who has the worst officiating. They dont need upmanagement having constant brainfarts.

Ok, suspensions and fines not eliminating the head shots? Then do something about it. Allow the head shots and make a change in what the players wear.

Now most will say more protection...bigger helmets, face shields, neck braces. I say, go the opposite way. No shoulder pads, smaller pads in the pants, less protective gloves BUT better hemets,...in other words, protect what should be protected(the head) and give much less protection to what is causing the injuries. How hard do you think these guys would hit another player against the boards with no pads?

And guess what? It just might open up the game a bit as well. How many of these guys will be jumping in front of shots with that much less body armor on for protection?

thats pretty much the example of the so called consistent NHL. They better improve.
or people can quit whining over a Hawk like Duncs getting suspended for a cheap shot.

No one's arguing over the fact that Keith was suspended.

We're upset at the lack of consistency by the NHL.

I think they need to go back to anatomy class .... as apparently heads are the new shoulders?

Nice try- but there is video on that management.... ok, what's next? :elephant:

And while not condoning Keith's action ... you can argue that half-assed officiating (read that to mean -not- controlling the game) is what created this situation.
