I have a Vikes friends who is all about this. I tried to explain Kirks cap hit and he somehow thinks there will be some three way trade between Vikes/Texans/Browns

The Vikings will have to give up picks to get ride of Cousins similar to the Brock Osweiler deal
Cousins has a $45M cap hit ($35M base salary) this upcoming season... yikes.

Nobody is making this huge deal for Watson while his law suits continue to drag on so all should just completely ignore the Watson going here or there rumors.

My bet is Cousins ends up in Cleveland, with Minn sending him and a third round pick and get Baker Mayfield in return.

There are two QBs in that division better than Baker Mayfield, and what the FO might decide to do is look for the QB of the future next year. In the meantime, Mayfield does have trade potential now on his fifth year option with the potential to be better. If they take on Cousins' contract, they could swindle Minn out of a decent draft pick, and let Cousins have a year while they evaluate the rest of the roster.
And there may be a third shortly.

Wouldnt be shocked... but honestly my money would be on the following QB situation in the NFCN:

Balt: Jackson
Cin: Burrow
Cle: Cousins
Pitt: Garoppolo

Watson is probably in Houston until the legal issues are resolved, one way or the other.

Would Pitt have to trade for Garoppolo?

I'm assuming they would go through the draft, but I also get the idea of bringing in a veteran on the cheap as a placeholder for any rookie.

Agreed. And if it was some backup CB nobody would bother with him, but Watson plays the one position teams are going to take a risk on. At some point, the Texans are going to want to move on and a 1st and 3rd, or something similar, will be worth the risk for the other team.
True. But if you gamble wrong on Watson your team is fucked.

At multiple 1st rounders.. yes. But I don't think the Texans will hold onto that pipe dream forever.

Bottom line, somebody is going to gamble on a QB with a career 100 QBR at some point He is also relatively young. At some point it is going to be worth the gamble when you look at the potential of 7-8 seasons of a very productive QB.

I havent looked too far into the draft, but what I did see didnt impress me like previous QB groups have. I think Pitt had the supporting cast to win better if Ben was ten years younger.

SF should want to clear the field to let Lance take over free of controversy. Garoppolo could fetch them a draft pick that will in turn add to their current playoff capable roster. Would Pitt want to part with a draft pick for this?

I think that Pittsburgh, like Cleveland, sees a small margin that they need to improve to better compete for their division or a wildcard spot. If the can improve, even if only a little, at the QB position compared to last year for a 3rd or 4th rounder, would you not expect them to do it?

Not only the $35 million plus signing bonus due Cousins, but what would they have to pay for Watson's services? I'm guessing he won't play for free. Another $20-30 million per?

So many qb's will be with different teams next season will make things very interesting. Awesome to see!!! WOW!

More so now with Brady and Big Ben out of the mix as well. #woah

Does James stay in NO? Does Bridgewater have another believer? Does Darnold get another chance? Will Washington be the loser franchise dumb enough to overdraft a lesser prospect (think Bills with Manuel). Does Las Vegas act like I expect Cleveland, to move on from a guy who is the third best QB in his division, and hope for a better prospect a year later?

A year ago the word on Mayfield was he just needs to get healthy, now it's all but confirmed Cleveland is moving on. Always thought he was better than say, Trubisky, but I haven't seen that many of their games.

Guys ending their rookie deals are making bank to the tune of 40 million in todays qb market.

Is Mayfield and Kyler Murray worth 40 million if they were Bear QB's? I say hellz no!

Cousins is owed 45 million this year by the Vikings. They would have to trade him to a team willing to pay him 35 million and they take a 10m cap hit for signing bonus. LOL.

If Stafford can be had for Goff, anything can happen....

You'd have to be a moron to trade for Watson with his legal issues. Obviously he has some serious legal problems that could potentially land him in jail and/or suspended. Is there any guarantee he won't do illegal shit in the future?
Nope. Odds are he will do it again…

Why would any team trade for Cousins with 45 million owed to him?
Exactly. The Vikes would eat that 45m no matter what. They may trade him and go with a cheap option at QB if they want to move on from him and get offered a good deal. But there’s no way they can trade Cousins AND pay another decent QB this next season. Literally impossible.

At some point he will have been out of the league too long to be worth it too.
