Another thread had me discussing and remembering my military days and the weapons that I

was qualified for and carried during my security years in the USAF guarding nukes and

nuclear loaded aircraft. I thought it would be interesting to hear others share their

military experience with weapons and pics are appreciated as well.

I have had opportunities to fire some weapons that are used by family members in

the FBI and ATF. This one was taken in the winter of '08 of me firing an M4 issued by the FBI.

This is not a cue for certain board members to get on here and post pictures of their mass weapons of seduction. And you know who you are.

Doing Military Police for three years, and both boats I was on were "SEAL" boats, I had the opportunity to fire a wide range of weapons: from various handguns, rifles, machine unns, and the infamous Barrett.

M16A2, M4, M249, M203, AT-4, Browning .50 cal.

Weapons i've "handled" but never fired:

Mk19, M60

Vehicles Ive had the pleasure of riding on and touching the firing mechanisms.

M1A2 Abrams MBT, Bradley IFV (one of the perks of having been at Ft. Knox home of the armored cavalry).

i don't even know if we use bradley's anymore, I think both that and the M113 are being phased out in favor of the striker. Although I dont believe the M113 was even in service any more when I joined the Army I would see those used as targets at knox.

and no, the question that gets asked of me everytime, I never saw any goddamn gold at fort knox. I saw the installation, which friggin has a defensive grid like an 18th century star fort.

I was in a constant state of fear whenever we had range time in all my years, as 70 percent of the people I served with were un-educated redneck trailer trash that would end up killing someone in some darwinesque episode. I thank my lucky stars I never had to go to war and entrust my life with any of those tools....who woulda been soley looking out for number one? <-- this guy!

So uh did you see the gold at Fort Knox? Hehehe No actually did you get to fire the main gun of the M1A2? Since yeah that's the only job i want if I go into the military.

I really enjoyed the Super Soaker 50... but was even more impressed when they added the CPS units onto the later models. Just seemed like you got more bang for your buck.

Well, he probably won't be getting laid either, if he has to go to Iraq or Afghanistan.

No I just got to go inside and play around the the controls. I would have loved to. I wasn't in Armor school there though. I was a 25F Network switching systems operator/Maintainer. Translation, I tell two privates to crank up an antenna.

That CPS was a great addition for sure. When they got into the bigger numbers, they started to get unwieldy. I mean, the back pack model was great, but some of the smaller folks would have trouble with the added weight. The CPS really helped with things.

And I don't even want to get into those folks who modified Nerf guns for water usage. Crazy shit... and ended up costing just as much as a super soaker.

Some of the guys I used to hang out with put there paint balls in the freezer so they gave that extra sting. Although they were kind enough to never shoot me with them, I saw the welts they left on each other.

Never did that, as I always found it to be a little to childish, even for me.

what is fun about getting paint splattered all over your hair and clothes and having welts all over your body. These guys used to shoot at each other in the house. I stopped going there because I didn't want to be one of their casualties.

They're childish for doing it in the house like that, and freezing the paintballs. Paint washes out, really easy now a days.
