what is fun about getting paint splattered all over your hair and clothes and having welts all over your body. These guys used to shoot at each other in the house. I stopped going there because I didn't want to be one of their casualties.[/quote]

What's fun to one is inane/insane to another. Hell, I've had a Golf enthusiast call Hockey boring.

I hate playing paintball. I am always competative whenever I do anything. and the lack of team work in pickup games just pisses me off, and I never cared to play enough to join a team.

New Rounds for Army Rifles

Army%20Releases%20New%20Ordinance_slideshow_604x500.jpg

June 23: A new round replaces the current M855 5.56mm cartridge that has been used by U.S. troops since the early 1980s. The M855A1 offers a number of significant enhancements: improved hard target capability, increased dependability, consistent performance at all distances, improved accuracy, reduced muzzle flash and a higher velocity. It's tailored for use in the M-4 but also improves the performance of the M-16 and M-249 families of weapons.

Interesting. What is the tip/core made out of? Is it lead? Tungsten? Something else? Maybe everyone was tired of the "5.56 is too weak" argument and finally decided to do something about it. Since I have never had to rely upon the round for my survival I wouldn't know how they perform against different targets like many of you have. I know that my AR is quite accurate and puts one helluva hole in hard things at a good distance.

I guess each man/woman has their own preference when it is their own ass they are saving, but I wouldn't want to carry my M1A around with a ton of ammo. Granted, mine has an oversized stock and a bipod which adds weight but I'd rather carry a lighter weapon if given the choice. Maybe I'm just a pussy. In any case, I admire all of you who have served and thank you once again.

Here is a cool link I just found:

Apparently it is widely believed that I would be pretty good at operating a plastic spork. I guess they have those in the Military.

I had to go to the range every 3-4 years while I was an USAF medic. Taught you the basics of care and shooting the weapon. Shot the M16 with the .22 adaptor a few times.

After I got commissioned I was suppossed to go to 9mm pistol training, but never got the opportunity.

As far as vehicles I drove a variety of ambulances, but my favorite was the "Crackerbox", a 4 wheel drive ambulance (basically a 1 1/2 ton truck with a fiberglass/plywood camper shell you could load 4 litters into).

Flew in a few aircraft, but nothing to write home about.

C130s and C141s, HH53 Jolly Green Giant, and a UH-60 BlackhawK.

Gee, Hun, you must think I am a bloodthirsty hellbitch. And I don't consider my tongue a lethal weapon. It is more of a torture device.

LOL...... I remember shooting the M16 with the .22 adaptor in basic! Hilarious

My favorite vehicle to drive was the Peacekeeper. Armored personnel vehicle that

had an M60 mount on top and tires that would not go flat. The suspension was

murder though and the sharp steel corners inside were brutal. Cold as hell in the

winter in South Dakota and an f'n oven in the summer!
