Week 1 starting Qb is about the O-line, not the Qb.

The talk about who will start week one and when will Fields play has been beat to death and it’s not even training camp yet. Anyone ever thought they might want to get this revamped O-line a few games to come together and not throw a rookie QB out there to get murdered? Patience!

Good conversation, but a difficult one to have just yet. We won't really know where we are with the draftees until the pads come on, and more specifically after the first preseason game (or two). It's wishful thinking to expect the rookie to start at left tackle, but that may be the hand we're dealt. He'll never say it publicly, but I suspect part of the reason Nagy won't commit to starting Fields right away is because of uncertainty with the offensive line.

Back in the day the lowly Titans O line were on pace for most sacks allowed with Marcus Mariota under center. Jobs were on the line. The O line coach was about to sell his home. So was the O coordinator. Then Tannehill took over in week 5.

A seemingly older and less mobile QB. Difference was night and day. Weird dat.

If they don't start Fields because of the OLine then they should all be fired.

Why would he get murdered ? That doesn't speak to patience that speaks to cowardice .

If the Bears give Dalton the job for the first week that is fine. If Fields doesn’t play for a while that likely means the Bears are winning. That is a good thing. The more time Fields has to watch, the better. Now if he is clearly better or Dalton struggles at all then Fields should get his chance. But we won’t know anything for quite a while. If the o-line is that bad the Bears are fucked anyway.

Nagy is following "the plan," so Fields ain't starting.

If Dalton plays good enough we might not see him.

Get ready for tears every week this year.

I honestly don't think the state of the offensive line will be the determining factor. They have made investments in it, sure they need to get the pads on to see how it's doing...but if anything, Fields mobility help the offensive line.

IMO, Fields command of the offense and the huddle is going to be what determines when he is 'ready'.

No, No, and no.

1) Is this line really going to be revamped? Bears fans don't even know what the official OL depth chart is as it won't be released until training camp.
2) If the OL is below average would you rather have the limited Dalton back there or the athletic Fields who can make plays with his legs if the line breaks down.
3) The two best rookie QB seasons were by Baker Mayfield and Justin Herbert who played behind horrible OL's in their first year. I don't think even a below average OL will affect Fields numbers much.

So many people say this but at this time it’s not an accurate statement. It’s unknown. Maybe he needs to sit and watch for a while or maybe he excels right off the bat.

I just can’t wait for the season. Actually, I’ve never looked this much forward to PREseason.

Me too, but...

If the offense sucks in preseason: "Preseason doesn't really tell you much." - CCS every year.

You're a fucking broken record. Ever thought about just seriously shutting the fuck up? Might do ya some good.

If it’s good, I won’t believe that more than vice versa.

I don’t think anyone is surprised that you spin a consensus that you can’t get too excited about preseason success into
that take, Don Quixote.

I hope they make it difficult for Justin but that’s almost impossible against the Ds he’ll play.

Kinda goes without saying… I remember Trubisky looking pretty decent in his first preseason.
