Absolutely not on the wet wipes. They wreak havoc on the septic and sewer system. No matter how much some brand may claim to be eco friendly, none are.

TP + Water is simply the best on all accounts.
I had a few bidets in my house and loved them, but I constantly had guests that couldn't follow simple instructions and would make the most head scratching messes. So I replaced the one in the guest bathroom with a drainhole and urinal( fucking recommend this all day, it's your HOME, not a public restroom, so it stays clean and doesn't stink with the most minimal effort). But yes on the bidet as well, it's just super awesome, and they stay clean easily(cleaner than your standard toilet seat). BTW, uv/blue lighting for killing bacteria also a sweet upgrade for the germophobes. Forced air driers make things worse (see mythbusters who did an episode on hand driers).

I've always wanted a man-cave with a urinal. I would never have the sticky spot on the floor in front of it like a public one.

Or need to sit on a toilet seat that was just pissed on. Same for your wife, it's an easy sell ;)

What? I use flushable wipes, not baby wipes...baby wipes don't break down once they hit water.
Neither do the flushables...or rather they don't break down quick enough to not wreak havoc with the sewer pumps.

If they can't be flushed, what do you guys do with them? There is not usually a trashcan in a stall.

I think it's less of "they can't be flushed" and more of a mislabel on the package saying that it can do what it isn't able to.

The liquid in the wipes is mostly water, and as such the wipes have to be somewhat stable in water--you don't want it turning to mush in the case, and you certainly don't want it turning to mush when polishing the balloon knot. But, you want it turning to mush sometime between finishing wiping and when it hits the nearest sewer pump.

Now, if you're in a septic system it might work different (although reports are they gum up septic tanks, too), but if it doesn't degrade before hitting the sewer pump it gums up the impeller, and you then gotta pay someone to go out there and clean it out. That ain't cheap...hell, would *you* clean out shit-laden pump impellers for a living? That gets passed onto the taxpayers in terms of raised sewer charges.

Ditto on anything else that doesn't break apart--maxi pads, tampons, paper towels, condoms, etc.

A bidet would be the way to go in terms of staying green and ultimately cheaper in the long run--and I believe they sell integrated toilet seats nowadays.

OHHHH YEAH.

Ever see someone need to get their septic tank excavated from the ground? #1, not cheap. #2, your neighbors will absolutely hate you for a few weeks. Chemically dissolving wipes in a manor that is eco-friendly takes months on their own. When you add things like grease and human shit, it takes much longer.

I figured, but since I don't own one I couldn't answer from a position of firsthand knowledge.

Now since my work deals with water/wastewater for municipalities all over, there's where I can speak from firsthand knowledge (even though I do go down in the sewers...it smells like poo gas there. :p ).

I still think you're (royal you're not you, specifically) a special type of corpsefucker if you keep dropping those wipes and everything else aforementioned down the toilet than ***** and moan that your sewer rates keep going up.
