ND is horrible.
Young, good interior OL (assuming Grassu lives up to expectations), very good skilled position players, some nice pieces to pieces to start with and a great coach on Defense.

Yup, that's it.

Oh and a very good kicker coming off a bad yr....if you consider that a strength.

6 mos. ago I told you guys this was a bad/old roster, good to see people finally catching up.

Honestly, WR (and possibly TE) are the only position(s) I'm totally happy with.

I am hoping that at a minimum McPhee, Rolle, McDonald change the culture Of the defense and we get bigger and tougher.

I don't even care if they are still bad, just don't bend over and take it each week with a smile.

"Strengths"

RB-Forte is talented and we have promising depth behind him.

I wouldn't call WR a strength but it's not a question either. Jeffery hasn't proved he can be the guy. Royal isn't a long term solution, and White is a rookie. Definitely promising, but not without question marks.

The roster is still a mess, but....

Coaching Staff: Fox, Fangio, and Gase are one of the 5 best trios in the NFL. I think if we're healthy our coaching staff alone pushes us up two wins.

Offensive weapons: Cutler probably will not take full advantage of them obviously, but with Alshon, Martellus, Forte, Royal, KWhite, etc. we have more than adequate fire power.

Run stopping potential of our front seven: With McDonald, Ego, Rat, Goldman, McPhee, Foster (who fits much better as a downhill ILB in a 3-4), I think we will put ourselves in 3rd and longs frequently which could change our productivity. With Fangio dialing up unique blitz looks on 3rd downs we might not be half bad.

Interior OL: I am a big fan of Grassu which tilts my opinion here, but if Slauson is healthy, and Long beasting out at RG, we should be stout up the middle. But... Bushrod is barely average and our RT situation is ugly.

That's it. More negatives than positives the way I see it, but if we have a surprise or two (Bass is my dark horse) we could be mediocre. With no good reason I'm sticking with my 8-8 prediction. I feel like our run game will be a tick better and our D should be respectable. Cutler gon Cutler and our OT situation and lack of explosive play makers on defense will keep us from having a high ceiling.

As well as the obvious strengths at WR and interior offensive line, I think the additions of McDonald, Jenkins, and Goldman will give us a very good defensive line rotation.
