Hey look, someone found the 1 play that McClellin almost made.

It was a horrendous pick when it was made, and the sooner the Bears stop trying to find value in him the better.

BPA is no guarantee of anything, so expecting a home run is pretty nuts. I for one was NOT happy with rolling out AJ, Royal and Wilson as our WRs. I think we could have won maybe 2-4 games with those guys. With White I think we have a shot at 8-8 or better. We still have a lot of work to do, I'll agree with you there, I still think our safeties are a liability, and we have to figure out QB (with Cutler gone in 1-2 years) and RB moving forward (Forte possibly gone soon), some OL issues still, and we need to see how all of the FA and returning Bears do with the new DEF, especially at DE/ILB/OLB, but I feel we took a big step in the right direction. There was nobody I liked more at #7 when we picked than White. If we want to beat GB, we have to be able to score points. I think our DEF will get much better this year, but it's still a big work in progress for sure.

you think a rookie wide receiver is going to single handedly be responsible for up to 6 additional wins? Da' am, there is optimism and then there hypocrisy, need to throttle back just a tad there my friend.

adding what might be the best wr in the draft (there is much debate between White and Cooper) who not only is big, with good hands, but has elite speed that can stretch the field? Yes, i think he could not only tbe he key that adds a td every game or two, but also opens up the field for AJ, Royal, Bennett and Forte. look how much our offense changed when we got BM? it's not just what he adds, but how much WORSE the wrs would be if they only had AJ, Royal and Wilson. AJ gets double-teamed, Royal would be in slot, and Wilson is NOT taking the top off, nor did he play especially well when he WAS on the field. it's a trickle-down theory that helps bump up everyone around him. i know there are few rookies that come in and do well right away, but there were 7 rookies with 50 receptions last year, and look at ODB last year with 91, and Landry with 84. i think he can be somewhere in-between with maybe 60/800/8—80/1000/10. but obviously i'm big on him. not everybody is.

Giants were 6-10 last year. Does that mean ODB was responsible for all their wins?

Dolphins were 8-8..............

Starting to see a pattern here?

The only position on the field that might have a 6 game swing in wins and loses is QB, plain and simple.

LB production will be this teams biggest weakness.
Let's start with a point of reference for 2014 results.
L. Kuechly 153 tackles on 989 snaps taken (15.4%).
Guys on our roster:
J Bostic - 84/679 (12.3%)
C Jones - 69/433 (15.7%)
M Foster - 62/556 (11.2%)
S McClellin - 36/424 (8.5%)
S Acho - 31/469 (6.6%)

I'm hoping Jones can take the next step up with added snaps this year.
I've seen enough of Bostic and Foster to think they are mediocre at best and enough of the last two to know that you are desperate if they are on your roster.

Um, how can you look at those numbers with no reference as to positional responsibilities in a given defense and types of offenses faced during the yr and draw any real conclusions?

I understand people are all excited about using advanced metrics in football, but in their haste I am afraid they are misapplying a lot of stats that are essentially meaningless without contextual understanding. Football isn't as suited to statistical description as say baseball.

Um, I get your point. But when my eyes tell me one thing. And then they are backed up with stats. I roll with it.
I don't care if it's 4-3 or 3-4, ball players get to the ball. Now, if I was comparing Allen, Houston, McPhee stats as LB's, that would be silly as they have drastically different rolls.

The injury was a nice result.

But he blew contain on that play, hardly a positive.

he also used his speed shed the block and ran down Rodgers and smashed him
