I'm surprised people haven't started the bashing. Usually once something like this gets started people just go nuts. Glad this hasn't turned into that.
Check out the Religion Thread. Aside from one idiot, we're civilized :)

I only go to Catholic churches. Nothing against Protestant, Orthodox or non-denominational Christians or anything.

St. Ignatius -(Oregon, OH)
St Adelbert - (Toledo, OH)
Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral - (Toledo, OH)

EDIT: I would like to visit a religious service of every non-Christian religion at least once too.

As far as I know you can cross Catholic of your list of non-Christian chirches

Yes. Unless things have changed because it's been ten years since I've been a Catholic but they do not tell people how to get to heaven. They are or were a works based religion

I've gotten to go to St. Peter's Basilica which was one of the coolest experiences of my life. I visited a number of churches in central Italy when I went there over a decade ago, but I can't remember the various names right now.

That's on my bucket list of churches.

:obama: just :obama:

first of all, catholics are christians..in fact catholics are the original christians..every other denomination can trace their roots to catholicism

peter, jewel apostle of jesus, was a catholic pope

second of all, what the catholic church(and most christian churches,AFAIK) says to get to heaven is to follow the ten commandments,go to confession(catholic thing exclusively...).spread the word of god

its a pretty simple message...

Definitely worth the trip, I am not a terribly religous person myself, but it is an awe inspiring site. I have a slight fear of heights and the staircase to the top of the basicila is interesting to say the least, but the view at the top of the dome since the basicilia is the highest building in Rome is amazing.

They are cathedrals that I have also been blessed to visit, but seeing artwork from the Renaissance makes anything on this continent pale in comparison frankly.

sistine chapel was amazing to see imo even though it was hot as hell when i went 4 years ago and it took forever to get there...michaelangelo was an amazing arist ..

btw after he finished the sistine chapel...his neck angle had changed because of the position he painted the ceiling

This isn't really a religious debate thread, but I can guarantee that Catholicism is indeed Christianity. Just because some families are on auto-pilot when it comes to their practices, does not mean it is any less, a form of Christianity, perhaps, the first fully established form of Christianity. The same goes for the Eastern Orthodox church. I was a practicing Catholic Eucharistic Minister out of respect for my families traditions, and I promise you, there is just as much teaching about the ways to heaven in Catholicism, as there is in any Christian faith.

But whatever... I really don't care. I have been agnostic for 5 years now.

I don't want to derail the thread either, I just answered about non-christian churches he no longer has to visit.

If you want we can discuss it in the religion thread if you want. I'll bump that thread and wait to see if you want to have a conversation on what a Christian is and why Catholicism is not a Christian religion.
