Wayne Huizinga, who owned the Florida Marlins through 1998 is different than Loria who owns the current Miami Marlins. You pointed to an era that had a different ownership. I said see the Miami Marlins ownership. Different eras.

Player fans are the worst, like my next door neighbor who still owns 3 Favre jerseys...and was a fan of whatever team had him on the roster.

I think it depends. I'm a player fan in that I like players a lot more than I like organizations and I root for greatness to be great.

It was a joy to watch Pujols work in St. Louis. It's fun watching Verlander pitch. Those things give me a lot of joy.

But I see what you're saying and player fandom done to the max would be awful.

But you're still a Cub fan, in that if the team were facing a Verlander you wouldn't be walking into Wrigley donning his jersey(well maybe)and cheering against the home team.

At least I would hope not, good thing my neighbor cannot afford Bears tics...dude would probably get assaulted in the men's room while wearing his Favre Jets jersey.

Oh no I wouldn't but I wouldn't be rooting for V to implode either. I'd be rooting for a really well pitched game by both sides.

The point where you can call bullshit on me is that if he were gunning for a perfecto against the Cubs is be rooting for him to get it but that's as far as I go.

Therein lies the difference, player fans cannot even discuss team sports objectively b/c they are inherently biased.

Avoid these types if at all possible, we inherited a few here from the QB section of the now defunct CBMB.

I appreciate your usage of "we", because after a year of being numbed by moronic posting after moronic posting, the CBMB refugees have become one singular nebulous mass in my mind, kind of like The Blob. The above posting could have come from BearsBud, Bear Pride, PrideIsBears....it doesn't really matter anymore, because none of you are bright/conscientious enough to have your own opinion on anything. You wear your idiocy as a badge of honor. You don't care how dumb you sound or how little you actually contribute to this forum. Its almost the opposite...you look down/make fun of those people who try to make cogent sports-related points. Pathetic on many levels.

Basically anyone from CBMB. I'm starting to think that site wasn't actually shut down...it physically imploded due to its own suckiness. I feel sorry for the few people from that site who actually have brains...must have been tough.

It was pretty tough. Thanks for your concern.

I love this board ! This era in Chi. sports is great. A lot of Chi. team owners know the value of winning and are trying their best to do it. It's great. It always hasn't been that way though. A lot of fans grew up in a time when appeasing the fans was clearly not a priority. I see the term" meatball fan" directed at older fans who "expect" a certain team to win. But they don't know BABIP from YAC, uninformed, thus that makes them a meatball. Am I wrong?
