What constitutes a meathead fan?

I'm not sure of the complete definition but the following certainly applies: anyone who totally shits on a draft pick because they didn't look all-universe checking into their first day of rookie mini camp(McClellin critics, I'm lookin in your direction)

Or conversely, anyone who trumpets the arrival of an undrafted rookie from SE Louisiana poly tech state because they supposedly have fire and passion, but all they did was dive for a tipped pass and make a nice fingertip grab

My definition is broad, but generally its anyone who when it comes to football who gets angry and lays in with personal attacks when you engage in debate over their opinion.

However, and I am splitting hairs here, that does NOT include people who DO engage in debate with you, but also have some venom or vitriol mixed in the response.


Example:

Argument: Johnny Knox is a great WR.

Non-meatball: Johnny Knox isn't a great WR you moron. He only benefitted from being in a Mike Martz offense and he can't run a damn route correctly to save his life. (note, even with the insult, there is a logical rebuttal there).

Meatball: STFU! Knox is great and if you can't see that you're a dickhead! (Note - no actual logical rebuttal. Just someone who got upset and launched a personal attack.)

The last guy is a meatball fan and an idiot. The first guy, asshole though he may be, is actually trying to debate the points with logic and intelligence and therefore isn't a meatball fan.

That's usually the easiest way to distinguish between the two.
