So I watched their match the other day with the blues and it really looked like they were getting roughed up, straight up dominated the entire game.

Im not sure what kind of program they have for getting pumped up, but are there any specific training programs that focus on being more beastly? It was annoying seeing them get pushed around up and down the ice rink. I thought that danny carcillo guy was suppposed to be a tough guy but I didn't even see him punch anyone?

Do hockey players take any sort of MMA classes or are there some warmups they should be doing to get more aggressive and toughen themselves up?

Youd think they would be getting tired of looking so weak out there.

I Think it's a lack of intense music in the dressing room before game time.

I'm just surprised Kane has been in the league so long and has yet to throw one check. At some point you got to put your big boy pants up and stick up for yourself rather than hide behind your teammates.

Although, I thought that match yesterday was great.

I enjoyed the game, I just wish they would stick up for themselves. Kane is such a small little guy, but with the proper training (kung fu, karate, tae bo) maybe he could rock someone every once in a while and send a message that he can be a wizard with a puck but also **** up someone's face.

Kane taking kung fu? Fucking up someone's face? Not likely considering Kane is a giant pussy.

Maybe not kung fu, but what about something like ninjitsu? I'm sure there are sneaky ways of beating someone with your stick without the refs seeing it?

Train him with battle staves like a kendo stick. Those are very similar to hockey sticks.

I think it's just a lack of raw energy. I mean, they certainly are good at puck possession but not at brute force. Are they allowed to listen to music during the game? You'd think they could blast some speedmetal or hardcore, or even that really angry kind of dubstep and maybe get a lift in their play. Can they wear earbuds while on the ice?

Can't tell if you're being serious or not HHM.

But, if you are, my counter would be: why do they need to get more physical?

I just think they need to get geared up for the playoffs. All of this tactical style of play can go straight out the window if they are getting pushed around during the reg season. Plus, injuries? If they are getting phsycally beaten that is going to take it's toll. The last thing you want are people teeing off on Kaner and have him go down before teh playoffs. If he could man up and start checking people even though he's small, maybe they'd start respecting him for more than just that crazy shit he does with the puck. Who is training these guys to fight anyways? Are there coaches that can be brought in for this?

We won the game didn't we?

Idk why you'd come into this thread just to troll me, but yes the Blackhawks won the game. I'm talking bigger picture here. If they are getting physically dominated game in and game out, I'm concerned about their abitility to sustain their success as the battles rage on into the playoffs.

HHM I appreciate that you're learning the sport more now and have been happy to answer all the questions you have PMed me throughout the season.

Believe it or not fighting rarely happens in the playoffs even though the games themselves are more intense and physical.

In no way can you even make an argument that I tried to troll you.

While, I'd like to get more physical, the Hawks have proven they can make deep postseason runs without it. It's not something to get worried about. Ask St Louis how that "physical play" works out for them when the dust settles every year.

But I'm not a member of any St. Louis boards, that's why I'm asking members here. I guess it's fair for you to say they don't need to be more physical, but this conversation is really about HOW DO THEY GET MORE PHYSICAL. Hope that helps. Sorry for calling you a troll, I just am getting sick of what seems like little snarky replies from you in every forum...

Since Q has been here they've been either dead last or right at the bottom of the league in hits. Every single year. They're dead last again right now. Also one of the most disciplined teams in the league every year as well, at the bottom of the league for PIMs per game in that same time span. And in that time span they've won 2 Stanley Cups and have gone to two WCFs, the last one being one goal away from going back to back in Cup wins. They have their style of play and they play it well. It works for them, if it's not proven by now to you that it does then it never will. This is the golden age of hockey in Chicago right now because of how they play. They want them to try to become "more physical".

When you play a high puck possession style of game, you will usally take more physical punishment than you dish out because you have the puck so much more often. If that isn't the case and you see the Hawks outhitting the other team, that usually means they're in trouble. Like during the first two games in last year's playoff against the Blues. They tried playing like the Blues and it just doesn't work for them, that's what a team like the Blues wants them to do.

The whole thing about hitting players to earn respect is a myth. Players like Torres are going to make the kind of dirty hits like he did on Seabrook and Hossa no matter what you do to him. It doesn't matter. Players like him are what they are.
