I feed the beasts dry food, but decent dry food. Have one that is allergic to chicken so she doesn't get any of that.

However our dogs get scraps and a lot of raw veggie scraps as we prep etc.

As far as castration I have heard a couple of theories.

1. that it calms down the boy because he doesn't have as much doggie testosterone running through his body. so good for calming a neurotic male wild boy down.

2. can cause some insecurity issues and even some temperament issues because of said insecurity.

My personal opinion is that nuetering males and fixing femals is important to keep stray populations down. This is far more important in the cat population.

I get all of my dogs fixed.
I was going to feed a quality dog food like ( Orijen). I use to feed Canidae to my Rott. If i was pressed for time, i would be feeding a quality grain free dry dog food. But i have the time to feed him raw the way i do it , and it does take a commitment. Plus i would like to think i'm saving money doing it this way . I give a guy $ 20.00 for the stomach chamber ( tripe) from and he usually throws in the liver, spleen ,lungs, kidneys, heart or tongue. When i need the meat i pay $ 1.00 per pound. I usually buy $ 125.00 pounds that fills up the dogs freezer. I think its cheaper this way than a 50 pound bag of quality dog food.

As far as the dog being neutered, i am not sure yet if i want to have it done, i dont want the dog to lose his ( alertness) if that makes sense. Thanks Burque.

Yes we feed grain free as well also no chicken or chicken byproduct.

I pay right at a buck a pound. It's the best and most reasonable I could find. Cause I refuse to buy the total garbage food but don't want to pay ninety bucks a bag.

Neighbor feeds her Irish Wolfhound mostly dark chocolate and beer. The dog is going on 28 years and starting to get sick, so they have their concerns and may change diets.

I had a Collie/shepherd/rotweiler mix growing up, she was so smart. We fed her any tablescraps (she demolished left over bones of any type, chicken included) available along with dry Purina mix, leftover bowls of cereal, Fruit Loops, Lucky Charms whatever, pancakes. My dad would always put a half scoop extra of ice cream in his bowl for her along with an extra cookie for his 8:30/9:00 snack. She lived to be 18, she saw a vet for her shots (sorry Spartan) and was spayed after a litter of puppies when she was young but was always healthy. I could not imagine a better dog than her.

We feed our dog Pedigree mostly, but she gets a spoonful or two of Rachael Ray wet dog food as dessert after finishing the dry food. We have been trying to give her more real meat (cooked) lately. She likes fruits and some veggies too like carrots.
