There has been alot of talk about losing out and speculating on what happens in FA and the draft. But there are a few games left, and besides losing out to try to secure the 2nd pick, there are some things I’m hoping will happen:

-play Herbert as much as you can in as many ways as you can (pass blocking, receiving), they know what they have in Monty
-start Velus and Claypool and target them as much as Fields can; perhaps they can established some chemistry; Velus should also return all kicks (provided he doesn’t drop half of them
-see if Sanborn continues to shine
-play Leatherwood as much as possible to see if they may have something.

The games themselves are meaningless in regards to any playoff hopes, but are pretty important to these players, as well as watching Fields’ development, of course.
I’m interested in seeing how it shakes out.

Herbert can’t block or catch. We already know this.

VJJ shouldn’t be fielding punts. Keep him on kickoffs but I agree play him more.

I’d add that I want to see N’keal Harry used more as a UTE. We have a glaring need for a flex TE. We don’t have one. He can’t beat out ESB for the boundary X!

I’d like to see how he looks blocking and coming out of the slot. If he can transition into a TE, he may have a spot next year.

A quick look at spotrac TE FA for 2023 has Gesecki on the top of the list wanting over 10 mil a year. **** that. Engram for around the same or Tonyan for half that still induce vomit.

I don’t see a future for Harry at the boundary. We have a need his talent set may be able to fill. I’d like to see him used in the slot and as a move TE.

I actually agree with the part about Leatherwood. I know he's on a pitch count due to having mono but it actually makes a difference to the off-season strategy if they think he's a starter next year or not and at what position.

This. Harry had 5yds on Jaire Alexander turned around, and Jaire still caught up to him. He needs to be bodying NB's sitting in zones or burning LB's.

Other than the obligatory Fields health and development I by far most want to see Claypool show he’s worthy of being one of our top 2 WR’s going forward.

If he doesn’t look capable of that over these next 4 games the off-season becomes much harder IMO.

-Continued progress from Fields, especially re: throwing shorter routes with timing and early in the play.
-Leatherwood
-Claypool
-Try to figure out which of StB, Pringle, Harry you want to keep at WR5/6 on minimum deal, if any.
-Can any back up DB step up?
-Is Morrow worth keeping on a cheap deal as maybe SAM or backup across the board? They probably already have an idea about this.

Some good stuff in this thread.

Let's just hope that the healthy part comes true for the key pieces for next year.

I think Morrow is the type of guy you bring back on a cheap deal and pray a mid round pick beats him in camp.

I would like to see them pass more from the pocket. Let fields throw it a bunch. Won't always be pretty but Fields needs the experience.

I even think you can get him back and sign a legit starter, like Okereke, and a midround pick. They only have Sanborn and Weatherford on the roster at LB for 2023 right now. They need at least three more. Morrow can play at any of the spots, which is him biggest value I think.

He's the secret weapon to tanking. "It would be a shame if the Bears turned over the ball on the 5 yard line."
I like where your heads at. Well played

That’s an option but personally I want as much money as possible going to the dline and oline. LB is like RB to me. Fill it with draft picks.

Off ball LBs are cheap usually but I agree. Just don't think they will be able to sign 4 top tier OL/DL, no matter what they have to spend. There will be plenty of $ left over even if they sign say Payne, Jenkins, McGlinchy and a EDGE.
