I think he's going to teach photography and he's going to uses the "post your picture" thread for his portfolio.......
I'm glad that I never have to go through the process of making a portfolio again.

I did it for getting my license, and no one has ever asked me about it or talked to me about it since.

Crazy. You're lucky.

My teachers got evaluated every 3 years.

It was :andruw: when the principals and vice principals would observe because then some would actually teach for a change.

Oh I've been evaluated 2-3 times every year I've been teaching since I've never had tenure. No one cares about the portfolio, given that you are in IA perhaps we are talking about two different things, though.

Yeah probably.

I know the teachers had a binder of homework and class activities and stuff they had to go over with administrators.

Yeah in Illinois to get your certificate there is the huge thing you have to put together called a portfolio. I've heard of districts doing that for evaluations, but none of the districts I've been have done that.

What district are you? Are you at a high school?

I'm only comfortable with stating that I am at a high school. No offense, but I am not terribly comfortable with identifying the district I work at for a variety of reasons. Mostly because it is a smaller district with one high school which narrows it down a lot. I think if I taught in RPS (Rockford) or CPS it would be different.

God bless anyone who teaches in the CPS.

Yeah that isn't for me. I was lucky enough to get a gig right out of college, and 4 years ago I was able to move to the high school I wanted to teach at since I student taught there. I never had to apply to either of those districts.

Interesting about a discussion of college can lead to a discussion of Chicago Public Schools.

The issue for me was being involved in such a large district. I like the fact that I am at a high school that I will be able to stay at for several decades. I like that I am part of the community that I teach at. I also am not a city person. So where I am at is perfect for me.

they don't call it G-Wood for nothing. :troll:

Your neighborhood isn't bad. There are others in Chicago where I would never want to teach if that were my profession. I definitely feel for some of those teachers.
