My friend worked with a Vietnamese immigrant with no familiarity of American culture. He was a tiny dude, 5' tall 90 pounds. He told his co-workers that he wanted to change his name from unpronounceable to something all American, of course they told him John Holmes was the way to go. He was all for it until his lawyer explained the prank. He was pissed for a while at his co-workers but got over it and wound up with some generic shit like Joe Smith. If that lawyer keeps his mouth shut there is a tiny little Vietnamese dude named John Holmes.

It really depends how you pronounce it. As you are Hispanic, I'm guessing it's pronounced like the color black in Spanish. Otherwise, it could be pronounced as the derogatory but less inflammatory version of the n word

My dad thought it was funny to name our black cat a horrible racist name. This was in the lat 60s. The cat didn't last long and he has become much more enlightened now. He is admittedly pretty embarrassed by what he once thought was hilarious.
