I was thinking about how many Hawks fans are showing up all around, not just here, but on the news and at school and stuff. And I got to thinking, what makes someone a fan?

1. Have gear from that team.

2. Watch whenever you can.

3. Go to games.

4. Nervous when the team is playing.

For me number 4 is the most important. I find myself questioning myself if I am a TRUE fan or a bandwagon. But I have realized that I get so nervous when the Hawks are on. Also I have 2 Hawks jerseys, like 8 Hawks shirts. Watch every game I can. Went to 2 games this year. And have also been to Hawks autograph signings. I went to my first game in 2002. I was never really able to follow after that because they were NEVER on T.V. Once they started playing the games on tv I have been a die hard fan.

Just thought I would share that.

You could probably add another... 5. Followed the same team over the past few years, at least!

Granted number 4 should answer if you are die hard or not. Definitely there is always an empty feeling before the drop of that puck.

I have friends that used to love Detroit... apparently they think you can turn into a Hawks fan over night. BS... Always tlaking how they have always been fans when watching the game. It is one thing being bandwagon... it is another jumping from the scum of the earth onto our ship. We argue everytime... granted the alcohol probably doesn't factor that well into it. Oh well.

Please. There is no reason for people to submit their "resumes" in order to be considered a fan. To say that someone isn't a "true fan" of a team or is a "bandwagoner" is meatballism to the extreme. Just shut up, enjoy your team how you see fit and leave others to enjoy the same team their way.

It's especially maddening when I hear this from Blackhawks meatballs that rip on newcomers because those people "new" or "returning" to the game weren't shelling out big money to go watch a team that absolutely sucked and wasn't on TV.

So what? How could your sensibilities be in any way offended by where the loyalties of people you don't even know lie?

I'm sick of this bullshit whining you hear from "diehard" Hawks fans: "Dah, I've been a fan of the Hawks since [some year] and I lived through the hard times, and these new fans, they don't know what it's like."

Like worshiping and spending money on a shitty product year after year is some badge of honor. Just shut the **** up and enjoy the Hawks winning the Stanley Cup.

Right... lol. Yes I truly understand the mentality of a "fan" that follows the Cup favorite every year. I will stick to the fact that it is complete crap when someone likes a team simply because they are the favorites. Devils... then the Wings... then the Pens... Please how can you call yourself a fan. You aren't a team fan... You simply like hockey. Nothing bad about that... You are a supporter.

If people that disagree with us would call in, then yeah, otherwise it could be a very short segment. I'm not a big fan of creating some fictitious argument to debunk and make fun of when we're talking about stuff like this. I mean, I do it from time to time so that we actually have some stuff to talk about, but I would much rather have actual people that disagree with us call in.

1. Have gear from that team. I have a Duncan Keith jersey tshirt, a Blackhawks shirt, and a Niemi jersey.

2. Watch whenever you can. I've missed about 1 or 2 games since January or so. It's been like a tradition that me and my bro watch every game downstairs on our bigscreen.

3. Go to games. I'm trying to get my parents to take us to a Hawks game next year instead of throwing me a graduation party.

4. Nervous when the team is playing. Hell yea I get nervous, any time we're down say a goal or two with minutes left, I'm always having faith in us scoring.

Also what about this one: Going on your teachers computer, whose a big Hawks fan as well, and blasting Chelsea Dagger.

Yea, like when I wore my Niemi jersey to school the day after they swept the Sharks, this douchebag in class kept calling me a bandwagon fan.

Like honestly, Hawks fans should be grateful for the increase in fan numbers. Do you really want to be like the Rays fanbase, where they seem to get 10,000-15,000 fans a game when they are the best team in baseball? Now that is pathetic.

I have it as a ringtone on my phone so even if I'm at Buffalo Wild Wings or something, I can still blast it when the Hawks score, lol.

Avaliblity of seeing the games/team has a big deal with it. I got into hockey in 2007-2008 because i went to our local team here in des moines (now gone:rolling::turrible:) fell in love with the sport and wanted to watch more so i found the hawks were the only team on tv in our market being a bulls and cubs fan it felt natural to root for the hawks... four games on tv and i was hooked forever.

1. Have gear from that team. Lol i have a ton white, red, wc jersey shirt and usa kane jerseys, black, wc toews jerseys, red duc keith jersey... And a tattoo - not sure that is gear but it will be there forever.

2. Watch whenever you can. I watched as much as the gf will let me prob 50+ games this year but i put my foot down for the playoffs havent missed one (only missed one period because we went to a concert)

3. Go to games. Unfortunatly living in des moines i dont get that chance we almost went to one this year but next year its happening for sure.

4. Nervous when the team is playing. o yes these playoffs have been insane.

Four is the most important, easily. You know it's bad when a team losing/winning can affect your personality the entire rest of the night. As in, if I go out after a Hawks loss I find myself more of a smartass, and will take less stupidity from the public until I call them out.
