Would you idiots shut up about Andrew Brunette? Nobody anywhere has talked about him this much in a decade yet you guys can't stop. He's completely irrelevant to this team moving forward and he's nothing more than a roster plug right now. Get over it.

On topic, I'm giving Iago credit for being unsure about Crawford coming into this year. I (and others) were sold on him and excited when he signed his contract in the summer but Iago showed pause. As it turns out, he was right to do so.

That could be starting to change or has changed and since the season isnt over yet could IAGO end up being wrong afterall :dunno: :)

Nah, he was 100% right. He didn't say Crawford would blow or even predict the struggles that he has had this year.

He basically said that he wasn't in love with the contract based on Crawford's short history and that we haven't seen enough of the guy. Crawford never hit a rough patch last year and Iago basically pointed out that all goalies hit rough stretches at times and we were maybe a little too excited about Crawdaddy.

I argued it at the time but that was me being dumb. Even the best goalies hit skids- especially early in their careers.

The only good things I've seen from Brunette have come in the last two weeks, as he's been paired up with Kane and Hossa. He's been showing some good hands and he's played a solid game behind the net, controlling the puck and getting it into 88 or 81's hands. Pretty disappointing in the first 60 though, thought he was gonna net 20-25 this year.

would be fine on this team if he wasnt paid 2 million dollars. It was kind of a waste. luckily they didnt have too much cap issues this year. I hope we dont resign him though. Regression has shown all season.

Like you kinda mention, his 2 million doesn't matter though. The only person that 2 million matters to is Rockey and Brunette. Brunette's salary hasn't stopped the Blackhawks from making a personnel move, not one bit.

So if he would be fine on this team if he wasn't paid 2 mil, but his 2 mil doesn't matter, then isn't he fine on this team?

I get the feeling he will be one and done with the Hawks.

My issue is that the 2 million could have went elsewhere. It was only a matter of time before regression/age where going to set in, and it is settling in now. They could have used that dough for other areas, its not like if we didnt sign him we would have a hole there to fill.

How though? It isn't like Bruno's two mil stopped the Blackhawks from doing anything. They had plenty of money to help out w/ other areas. They are paying two players almost $10mil just to not be on the team, I'm sure Bruno's two didn't matter.

Maybe, however they didn't actually use the cap space they did have, so for me it makes his contract a non-factor.

If Rocky likes to waste his money, then that is an issue that he needs to take up with his procurement and talent-evaluation teams.

More concerning is the acquisition of the non factor Morrison -who has done, statistically speaking -nothing with the team, which points to a trend.

A player like him in all sports are the most vulnerable to take steps back. Probably at worse next year he equals his contract which isnt a big deal.

Stals has been pleasant surprise, for sure. Seems like his confidence is on the upswing and he's using his speed more and more in the offensive zone. Great signs from him.

id like to see him on the PK and PP more. hes just so fast he closes on on the puck to quick and forces turnovers.

Power play for sure, his speed could help them gain entry. It'd be nice if, when the Hawks dump the puck, they actually retrieve it.

I'm a bit skeptical about the PK because I've never thought of him as a great defensive player ... but he'd have some D-men scared of SHGs the other way because of his wheels.

yeah totally what i was thinking, the dmen all know they have so much less time when hes coming at them maybe he will force some more mistakes. plus its not the the PK can get any worse. i think its worth a shot at least until the playoffs. if it doesnt work then just leave him off of it.

Well ... yes, and they like to pay people not to play... they can pay me not to play too - and in fact I'll lop a couple of zeroes off the price tag too for that matter...

That and your close quote tag needs a space between the '.' and the '[' . ;)

(Yes, I'm in web design mode again... :rimshot: ) -Er nm that - the close bold tag got inserted into the close quote tag somehow... fixed it...

...in fact, for you guys that go to games maybe you need to bail up Rockwell and tell him that if he gives you free beer that you promise never to play for the team.... see if it works.
