Yep. Some kind of synthetic ice surface.

I think that's cool :dunno:

I was :obama:ing the idea of the winter classic at a soccer stadium.

I'd like it at Dodger statium.

What's wrong about it? It is in LA, the 2nd largest market in the US, and has big enough dimensions to fit a rink in and still provide decent views where you aren't too far away form the rink no matter where you are sitting...

Nobody cares about MLS soccer.

Say your playing the game at the Home Depot Center

vs.

Dodger Stadium

I'd watch a game at Dodger Stadium, probably not at the Home Depot Center.

Just because it is a soccer field, you wouldn't watch a hockey game? That is ignorant... a soccer field's shape is better suited for hockey watching than a baseball field.

See how far away the fans were from the ice? It would be a lot closer at a soccer or football field.

You only watch the Winter Classic because it is cool to see it on top of a field of another sport you like?

And a lot less seats as well.

That is an issue, I agree with that, but fisch's rationale was that "nobody cares about MLS soccer so it would be dumb to put a hockey game there".

How about CenturyLink Field? Seattle is campaigning for an NBA and an NHL team, and CenturyLink is about 70K IIRC correctly in seating for NFL games, and about 38K for MLS games.

The big reason that baseball is used is because nobody is playing baseball at any time even close to January 1st.

I'd like to see it at Busch Stadium. Blues vs. Blackhawks.

Rangers vs. Devils/Flyers/Islanders at the New Meadowlands.
Avs vs. Red Wings at Coors Field.
Kings vs. Sharks at Dodger Stadium.
Vancouver vs. ____ at CenturyLink Field (Seattle)
Washington vs. Pittsburgh at FedEx Field

Those are my 5 suggestions.
