In your opinion, what team could the NBA do without if they had to eliminate one team?

Get rid of the LA Clippers. They've got the Lakers. Isn't that good enough? Or, better yet move the Clippers to Kansas City and rename them the Kansas City Crappers!

Toronto, Memphis, Minnesota and the Clippers. And I am going to vomit if Stern keeps talking about expanding to Europe...

The Bobcats. Second time they've tried a Charlotte team and still nobody cares.

I agree with these teams. Aren't they thinking about getting rid of some as well? I think Memphis and Minnesota would be one of the first two to go since their market isnt that big. Thats what sucks about some basketball teams. If your not even a playoff team, its going to be harder for you to sell tickets. Unless youre the Knicks lol

Major ones are Bobcats, Grizzles, TWolves for me. Kings and Warriors have great fan support despite terrible arena deals.

2009-2010 NBA Attendance - National Basketball Association - ESPN

According to ESPN, the Nets had the lowest attendance avg. last season...no surprise, but definitely not a team that will be shutting things down w/ the planned move to Brooklyn.

However, #29 is interesting...the Kings. There's plenty to do in Sacramento, and they've not been relevant for a long time.

The Grizzlies @ 28 is another viable option, but my guess is they stick around a few more years.

The Bobcats, Bucks, and T'Wolves....one of those animals could be extinct in the next few years as well...

I’ve been way out of the loop since an early return from the cruise and am still in the process of catching up on everything.

Stern romanticizing with the black art of contraction struck me as both surprising and odd (you might remember a few years back, he was flirting with the idea of adding teams in Europe, which is a virtual impossibility with the current NBA schedule; and yet now he wants to exterminate franchises).

The NBA has never been more seen, more known or more popular than it is now - having lived and worked in nations such as China and Brazil, the awareness of NBA basketball is unparalleled and many of their native countrymen play for many of these teams.

If I ran the NBA I wouldn’t be looking to cut teams, I’d be looking to increase the number of them.

If you consider the present approval rating of the league, and consider the ratings the product continually generates, they could EASILY add two more franchises and still be making money.

There are plenty of cities hungry for NBA basketball who have either never had the chance or who had their teams stolen from them (I.e. Seattle).

So let’s make the discussion - which cities deserve a shot at an NBA team? Below you will find my short list, which is as follows:

1. Las Vegas- What is taking them so long? Vegas is absolutely perfect for the direction the NBA is heading (lights, camera, action).

2. Seattle - One of the best NBA cities to date. I still haven’t the faintest clue why a town like that could lose out to a dump and a hell hole like Oklahoma City.

3. Arkansas- I went to a high school game in Little Rock one night and the cheering was so loud you would have sworn you were at the NBA Finals. They deserve a shot.

4. Hawaii - Clearly, Europe is not going to work but Hawaii is a good test case, especially for teams like the Lakers, Clippers and Warriors who would play them 4 times a year. In 10 years I fully expect to see an NBA franchise in either Honolulu or in Maui.

5. Arizona - Arizona has been expanding so much in recent years, they’re predicting for it to be in the top 3 largest American cities by 2015. 2 franchises in Arizona would then be every bit as appropriate as having three in California.

The truth is, no team deserves to be contracted. We need to think that this is these guys’ bread and butter. These guys have families - wives and kids and when you advocate contraction you are actually cheering for their livelihoods to be taken away.

How would you like someone to do that about YOUR job and YOUR career?

All of you who were advocating that are skunks and rascals and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
