Google asks the people who use their advertising not to have nudes on the same pages in which the advertising appears.
Google doesn't place ads on the Google Images pages in which the nude pictures appear.
How do you guys not understand this? It's really simple.

Where were these nudes though? I keep reading about this, yet my memory is is giving me nothing. Women in bikinis, sure, but that was one of the first options on my google search.

This is no different than cable tv. If AMC or FX wanted to run a show that was just constant pictures of nipples and people saying "****," they could do that.
But they make money by people advertising on their network, and the people doing the advertising don't want their products associated with those things. It's easier for them to make money if they have a certain set of standards.
In order for Google to sell advertising, they need a set of standards for the websites that use their service. Again, this is really simple.
