The number of cops being cut from 16,000 down to 8,500 is a good place to start. Plus, There are so many gangs, theyre fighting over every street corner to sell drugs. Bad situation overall, but IMHO..Start by hiring more cops.

Thinking about it now..the spike in violence did start right around the time Zack punched that guy in the face then was attacked in retribution.

Usually violence in Chicago is worse in the summer, but it's been terrible this summer. Rahm Emanuel hasn't done shit to slow it down. Well, he's done something, but it hasn't worked.

This one is hard for CPD to control b/c for a change it isn't the black gangs going at it, but rather the Mexicans. More specifically, northern Vs. southern cartel factions and gangs battling over drug territories.

not really. well, logan square has been relatively quiet this summer anyway, lol. wasn't trying to be racist, either. just saying last summer the shit between the cobras, imperials, and others seemed a lot worse

Well most of it is in the shit infested Southwest side. Glad I grew up in the northside, **** all that nonsense. And in Uptown where I grew up, theres shootings all the time in the summer all through October. Halloween is notorious for shootings. The thing about uptown is those guys know exactly who they want to shoot, I was never too worried about it. Yuppies parade through Uptown unharmed. But then again yuppies always have diplomatic immunity in the hood.

You get random violence in Uptown, too. I've always felt safe west of Broadway, though.

A friend of mine has a really nice condo at Leland and Sheridan that he now rents out because the random gang violence has gotten really bad in that particular area.

But... you can walk a few blocks and you're at Lawrence and Broadway which always feels really safe to me.

yeah, schools out and the street gangs are at full strength and ready to cause trouble for each other. Might be like this next summer too

from what I hear on the news, which they sis a thing on it on CNN, That instead of Three or four larger gangs, they are all seperate now which I guess does make sence to a point. I think it is also a sign of the times also and the struggling economy. Bad economy = more people being screwed

Lotta S/S black on black shootings going on as well..But I agree that the Mexican gangs are an increasing problem
