seem way too frail to play PF in the NBA also, he will get murdered in the paint trying to guard Zach Randolph or somebody like that
but I guess we will have to wait until he comes over to see what the Bulls decide to do with him

You mean getting Mayo for Deng essentially? Throw in Kaman and perhaps we have a decent deal on our hands.Personally - I wonder if Dallas would have interest. Apparently Dirk is willing to take a significant paycut.... so they'd have the room to add him likely. Wonder if we could get Mayo et. al for him? Would anyone be interested?

S&T? Or do the new CBA rules restrict that?Kaman is an URFA.
Sign him to a short term extension -- Not an option. He'll get big offers from other teams if he hits free agency.
It's not that we want to necessarily get rid of him, but more so if we do not plan on keeping him, his value is highest right now. He's maxed out as a player and he's not going to get any better. He might be able to maintain this level of play for a couple more years, but it's downhill after that. The fact that Butler has come out and improved so much possibly makes Deng expendable and opens up the possibility of trading him to get some help elsewhere on the roster.
What about this?
Luol Deng + Taj Gibson + Charlotte's pick + Mirotic's rights + Nate (after being resigned) for Kevin Love.
I'm assuming you're grabbing those measurements from the draft combine or something? Deng has been listed at 6'9" his whole career I believe and Jimmy is listed at 6'7" or 6'8". That's not really relevant though. I'm pretty sure Jimmy can play the 3 just fine. He played the 3 every time Deng was out and a lot of times went all 48 minutes and did just fine. Your argument is that he won't last the ridiculous minute toll that Thibs like to use at SF, which may be true, or not, you can't really say. It's silly to think that he'll fail simply because he lacks a few inches in wingspan. Whatever he lacks in length compared to Deng, he makes up for by being more athletic. He's quicker laterally and is a better leaper. We all know that defensively he's right up there with Deng and this is just his 2nd year. Could he play SG full time for us, absolutely, but it's not like he's some 6'5" in shoes guy playing the SF and going up against guys who have both 50 pounds and 4 inches over him. I think you're blowing the measurements a little out of proportion. Deng's wingspan is probably considered huge and is part of what made him a lottery pick instead of a late 1st rounder like Jimmy.Butler is not a SF. Butler cannot replace Deng long term. Butler is 6'6" with a wingspan of 6'8" and an 8'5" standing reach. Loul Deng is 6'7" with a 7'+ wing span and a 9'+ standing reach. I know Butler played well at SF for a short period of time, but long term he is too small to play the 3. I just don't see Butler playing 82 games + the playoffs with the way the Bulls grind at SF. He would be done in about 2 or 3 seasons; if he lasts that long.
Butler has ideal size for the 2 so he should stay there.
I don't see any reason to do anything with Deng. Who can the Bulls match salaries with that makes sense? Eric Gordon? Plus the Bulls already have Butler who is a more natural 2. If the Bulls move Deng they need to place him and I just don't see the group of moves that makes sense for both teams that makes the Bulls better.
I also don't think there is anyway Deng gets a raise. Most teams will probably see a system fit guy who has logged too many minutes, is on the back end of his prime, and is not a go to scorer. He also plays arguably the deepest position in all of basketball. I think the Bulls will be able to bring him in easily at 3 or 4 years and ~8 million per. That would be a 6 million dollar pay cut. I think that will Put Deng at an acceptable price point.
The MVP of the tournament, and likely the top prospect at the PIT, Marquette'sJimmy Butler, measured out a solid 6-6 ¼ without shoes and 215 pounds, giving him excellent size for a NBA small forward, albeit just an average wingspan (6-8) and standing reach (8-5).
Why would anyone want Kevin Love. Kevin Love is Boozer with a 3 point range. Love does not defend, block shots, take charges or protect the paint. Love puts up really good numbers on horrible teams, but if you actually watch any Timberwolves games (and he happens to be on the court) you would see a player that is vastly overhyped by the fantasy sports nature of our society.

You've got to be kidding me.... Yeah, a big man who's arguably the best rebounder in the NBA, a guy that can fill it up from 40% behind the arc and is one of the best passers alive REGARDLESS OF POSITION would be an absolute waste. He stinks.

then who do we need? (realistically)
