What To Do With Jordan Howard?

The guy is clearly not happy with his decreased role in this offense and it's showing in his play. There's just no passion there, no burst. He gets like 2 and 3 yard carries, and his ball security on the goal line yesterday was lazy.

He knew coming into this season the ball was going to spread around under this coach. So why be a baby now?

I take it we'll be drafting a RB next year because the production we'll be seeing from him in this offense won't be worth giving him a nice hefty contract. It might be better for both sides to go their separate ways after this season.

Maybe trade him in the off season but I’m sure the bears won’t get much. We’ll see if he becomes more valuable as it gets colder.

They call naggy and offense guru. If he doesn’t know what to do with Howard we hired the wrong guy. Going into the season I was thinking adapt our two rbs into how the saints do it with ingrim and kamara.

probably should have traded him this past offseaon before destroying his value.

in any event, think he gets traded this offseason or if a team like Eagles get desperate. Be lucky to get full value now though so maybe you recoup a 4th or 5th.

Amazing how quickly Bears fans turn on good players, but stick by shit players.

Howard is fine. My biggest beef with him yesterday, other than the fumble was him pulling himself again from the game right after his 15 and 19 yard runs. Keep the momentum going, and don't flake out. He had only been in for 3 plays.

I doubt he will get another contract with the Bears, but he is still a valuable player to the team this season.

In this offense there's no bell cow, the ball gets spread around. You can't put a guy in the game for more snaps if his head isn't in the game.

I like Jordan, he's been a great Bear.

Think it is Nagy turning on him not fans. We don't control his carries and it is clear Nagy hasn't really been sold on Howard.

So might as well get some value for him before you left him walk for nothing if Nagy doesn't view him as a fit.

If he didn’t fit he shouldn’t have been kept on the team. Me thinks either they tried trading him and drew no legit interest or they do have a role for him on this team

So far the offense does look smoother with Cohen in there kid is dynamic. So I see where you are coming from. But just like naggy is learning what mako does best he needs to do the same with Howard

15-17 carries a game and maybe more if he is rolling. All of the short yardage and goal line work, in the offseason trade him and draft a guy who fits better.

Cohen's role is only going to grow. He is creating huge yardage per touch.

Yeah at this point I make Cohen the primary back and Howard should be spelling him. Might as well drop the pretense that Howard is the starter.

Howard was a good insurance policy if Mitch sucked and Cohen stalled. But if we going to have Trubs throw 35 times a game and want Cohen to get 15-20 touches then Howard is surplus to requirements in the long run.

The offense is much more dangerous and unpredictable with Cohen in the lineup. Howard is too one-dimensional and tips the hand of the playcall

5 games in and you know this? You really should be working in some NFL front office. It’s early, the coach is in his first year as a HC, both running backs are in their second year, the QB is only in his second year, the starting TE and the three best WRs are in their first year with the team-one of them being a rookie. The entire offense is in their first year in the offense. You have the patience of a 13 year old with his mom’s Victoria Secret catalog.

Didn't he just average 5 yards per carry in Miami?

The weather hasn't turned just yet...it is now as football gets hard and cold that Howard becomes more valuable. Cohen is clearly more valuable in dome play or sunshine.

Football is playerd everywhere in everything. We need them both. I think Howard will command more on the market than the Bears are willing to pay. As Dez said, but maybe a 3rd or better...consider trading as Cohen/Cunningham/and a fat back off a practice squad could probably get by.

I think Howard is a top 5 pure running back if you are running in the league. Gurley, Elliot, Howard and a few others are the guys who can get you tough yard, play 25 snaps a game, stay healthy, and carry those types of games.

The best is yet to come for Howard this season, as sloppy fields, wind, snow will eventually nerf the offense. It will be a shame when we do lose him not to have that option, and I fear he won't be easy to replace. He was kinda hard to find.

As Howard and his agent see millions of dollars evaporating...now might be the perfect time to try and pay the man...lock him down very early and give him that mid-range offer.

He is clearly a talent, I think it would mend things with Cohen/Howard if you pay the man.

As I mentioned in an identical thread someone posted last week, this kid would be awesome in Nagy's offense. Like Cohen but faster... Not as much wiggle...

Nagy was asked about the frequency of JH's usage in today's presser. He said in no way is he trying to scale back his usage and there's a lot of football to be played, Howard will get his carries. Went on to say he's still learning how best to use all of the offensive weapons and their strong/weak points.
