Benny was very clearly filling in for Howard as he was getting a breather from his previous 2 runs.
Edit: are you suggesting the bears single best play maker in Cohen sit on the bench on 3rd and 1? Okay John fox.
Which is stupid. You just said Cohen is our single best playmaker yet you defending Pace putting in Benny in for Howard when he could have just gone with Cohen, LMFAO.
The one situation where Cohen being our best playmaker matters the least is third and 1. Teams convert 3rd and 1 running about 70% of the time (including QB runs) and passing 55% of the time. The one thing Howard is better than Cohen at is getting 1 yard because he is more of a North/South runner while Cohen's lateral running exposes him to more risk of no gain or lost yardage. Hence again why we lost a first down early in the game because Cohen bounced outside when a simply north/south run would have led to the first.

By contrast, on 2nd and 8, Cohen provides more value than Benny as both a runner and a receiver so if Howard needs rest, the correct thing to do is put Cohen in there not Benny.
So again it is about using them in the right role. Howard is a much better short down back than Cohen. Cohen is a much better option to give Howard a breather than Benny. Pretty obvious.
