Respectfully disagree, it's incredibly easy to ruin an egg. A salad can't be burnt, live insects is the complete list of how to ruin a salad.
Even before the ant incident Denny's sucked, 34 years later I've never been back, haven't missed it a bit, too many great mom and pop diners out there to hit a corporate place. I try to avoid chains whenever possible, went to Olive Garden once because my kid picked it for her HS graduation meal. By the time she graduated from college she had gained some wisdom and picked a real Italian place a mile away from OG, so proud.

So true and with all the apps/social media available to us there's no reason to eat at shit chain places anymore. Yelp is a godsend when I travel. Able to find so many great local joints that I never would have thought about going to without it.

Live insects can't get inside the eggshell, so there is that. Eggs are the one thing that can be left out at room temperature for a length of time and not go bad. Or get insects inside them. I would rather eat an overdone egg than a cockroach/ant infested salad any day of the week. Don't even get me started on the germ fest a salad bar brings to the table. One would think a Denny's, any Denny's, go's through a shit ton of eggs, so they should at least be reasonably safe to eat. I guess I am looking at it from a "what can I eat and not die" perspective more than a "what is the cook least likely to screw up" perspective.
Olive Garden, yes, another gem indeed. is there any decent chains out there though? Red Lobster?

You go into a restaurant and order whole eggs still in their shell brought to you? Like unpeeled hard boiled eggs, to ensure they are insect free?
After refrigeration eggs have a room temperature life of 2 hours, pretty much the same as meat and everything else.

Sometimes I think some cultures could take a steaming pile of manure, sprinkle some salt on it and age it for a decade and call it a delicacy. Doesn't make it right or good.
Century egg? no thanks. I pass on horse urine smelling rotten eggs.

Mine was easily Arby’s. A self proclaimed foodie sent me there claiming I just HAD to try the Meat Mountain. Well I did and I spent most of that night vomiting profusely. What’s more, the person in who suggested I try it claimed I was faking because “he didn’t get sick when he ate it”
