When you are talking about the best regular season Bulls team. That would be the 2010-11 Bulls team as the greatest regular season team in franchise history. It was Derrick Rose (less than Jordan), Carlos Boozer/Taj Gibson (hurt and way less than Rodman) and Noah (hurt and not comparable to Scottie Pippen) that came 10 games from breaking the All-Time record. I don't know how far they will go in the playoffs, but I think a case can clearly be made for this year's team as the greatest in franchise history for the regular season.

The 72 win team was "better" but I think this is more of an accomplishment considering the circumstances.

Ummmm yeah 72>62, clearly. I can't say what the specific team stats were for that season but idk how you could make a case against the single greatest regular season team(not just Bulls) of all time. Not to mention our division is complete ass.

But do people really remember regular season teams or do they remember playoff teams?

Good point, we'll see what happens in the post-season. Then I'll make a judgement.

If this team does win the championship, with much less talent then 72 win team, could a case "possibly" be made?

Absolutely. If this team finishes as the champs, there is no reason why they couldn't be considered. Less talent than Jordan's team, but possibly more heart.

I understand the premise of this thread, but no. This team is no where close to the 72 win Bulls. That team has a legitimate claim to "best team ever."

It would be like saying that, if Butler won the NCAA tourney last year vs Duke, they would be better then all of the undefeated teams of the past. Nope.

But outside of maybe 2-3 games, was there any more losses where this team wasnt in it at the end?

It's easy to use the Noah, Boozer injuries as excuses but is anyone willing to go back and research injuries for any 60+ win team? 72 wins was an amazing accomplishment.

Yeah, being that the Bulls are the only NBA team to ever win over 70 games and only team of two games to win 69 games in a season, I think that team is better than this team, no matter what this team is able to do. The Cavs a few seasons ago won 66games with LeBron James and not much else. They also won 61 last year. Both teams failed to reach the Finals.

I do not think this team can ever compare to that 72 win team, no matter what point you are trying to make. Even if these Bulls win a championship this year, that 95-96 team is still better, because they have done something no one else has.

For the ups and downs this team went through this year along with injuries, it's an amazing feat to win 62. That's on Rose and Thibodeau. Great player and great coach.

?? There is nothing wrong with this thread. He is bringing more discussion to the board. How, exactly, is that a bad thing? :bizarro:

4th best regular season record in franchise history. Heck, if they won it all, you could make a case for this team being the 4th best Bulls championship, but c'mon bro.

I thought we were trying to alleviate all of this pure bullshit about new players (and desirable FAs) wanting to win in Chicago because of the so-called "Jordan Shadow".

The 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls would sweep this team, and every game would be decided by 15 points or more depending on when Phil wanted to put Simpkins, Salley, and Brown in.

If they were going to do a 7 game series 6 months later, I'd say the same thing. Hell, I'd go as far to say that it would happen 8 out of 10 times that way.

This current team is good - really good, but let's not get carried away with what we have seen in the past.

It's pretty simple to me. This Bulls team is really good. If they win the championship, they'll be considered great. Jordan's Bulls were LEGENDARY. End of story.

Folks, I clearly state regular season team, yet many keep mentioning playoffs and championships. Both concepts are outside of consideration.

Let me clarify. Take this years’ Bulls team talent divided by the number of wins it acquired and it is a greater number than any Bulls Championship talent divided by the number of regular season wins which for Regular Season greatness I would argue makes this Bulls team the best ever. How else would you quantify it? (And yes, I realize you really can’t objectively quantify talent.)

Edit. Wins/talent

I don't think who would beat who has anything to do with who had the better regular season. In fact, I know it doesn't.

Wouldn't this team either be the most productive team or would you rather say the 72-10 team was woefully under achieving?

I'd probably go with the former. I'm not sure how a team that won 88% of its games could ever be considered underachieving. The fact of the matter is that this Bulls team has had to work a helluva lot harder to win games than the 95-96 team ever had to.

They lost 3 games that season by 1 point. Two of those losses were on the second night of back to back games. Lost two games back to back nights, the second night being in Phoenix and Jordan 9-22 that night and was 10-17 from the line. My guess was he and Rodman had a fun night in Vegas the night before.

Other than a 32 point abberation beatdown from the Knicks, they never lost by more than 10 points. My point in all of that being - I'm guessing some nights they didn't really care. This Bulls team had to care every single night.
