Ref is part of the field. For better or worse. Play continues.

Was an incomplete pass

It is still just an incompletion. I remember Cutler mouthing to "get out of the way" to the ref.

You hit the ref with a ball and it lands incomplete, it's incomplete. Nothing changes when you hit a ref with a ball.

They are ussally good at getting out of the way, but not always.

And in the event of an off-the-ref's-head interception? Still an INT?

NFL Ref surprised to be alive after being hit by one of Jay Cutlers stray football that looked like a rocket and hit ref on the side of his head, The NFL Ref who miraculously escaped serious injury in an football game, says he didn’t expect to survive the terrifying hit by Jay Cutler's thrown football.

“I thought I was going to die,” NFL Ref, 57, told the ESPN News.

“I felt like I had seen my death before it happened.”

The NFL Ref described his brush with death hours after he was off the field early Sunday.

“It’s a miracle because a hit by one of Jay Cutler's thrown football you don’t survive,” The NFL Ref said, while wearing his official NFL ref uniform.

“It was just crazy how it happened,” he said. “I think I got lucky.”

For his part, The NFL Ref said he’s not ready to swear off officiating NFL games overall — only the one's Jay Cutler plays in.

Eh, I'd legitimately have been pissed if the ref had caused an INT, though.

We all were mouthing "get out of the way" or more like "get the fuck outta the way".
