Rank the Cubs in each category against the other teams in the division. Put a 1 after a category if they are the best in that category in your mind, a 2 for second, and so on (until 6).

First Base: #4 (Better than HOU and PIT)
Second Base: #4 (Better than HOU and PIT)
Shortstop: #1 (Cabrera is a Free Agent, so he doesn't count anyway, and Castro FTW)
Third Base: #2 (Rolen>Ramirez)
Left Field: #3 (Holliday is in RF now, Soriano>Berkman, Braun>Soriano, maybe Lee>Sori)
Center Field: #1 (I'd take Byrd over Rasmus, as Byrd is better defensively and contact)
Right Field: #3 (Behind Bruce and Holliday)
Catcher: #1 (Molina can't hit)
Starting Rotation: #3 (Behind HOU and STL)
Closer: #1 (Do I need to explain?)
Set-Up: #1 (Hard to match Marshall and Wood)
Long Relief: #3 (Unsure)
Middle Relief: #3 (Unsure)
Bench: #3 (Unsure)
Farm System: #1 (Rest of the division has no farm, not sure in Chapman still counts as a prospect or not though. But that COULD change things.)

Here's Mine

First Base: #4. Cards, Reds, Brew Crew
Second Base: #3. Pirates and Brewers. This is assuming we use a Baker/DeShitt platoon
Shortstop: #1
Third Base: #1 Assuming Rami is healthy
Left Field: #3 Cards and Brew Crew
Center Field: #2 Pirates. I only say this because I think Rasmus is going to the shit end of the stick in STL, or else I would put them ahead of us.
Right Field: #2 Reds... this is really sad that we're 2nd.
Catcher: #1
Starting Rotation: #2 Cardinals
Closer: #1
Set-Up: #1
Long Relief: #We don't even know who are long reliever is.
Middle Relief: #We won't know till ST.
Bench: #Still, won't know.
Farm System: #1. Our specs are really starting to look good. Let's hope something becomes of them and it doesn't turn into a Wood/Prior thing.

2B: You think that Neil Walker sucks? Are you high? He's a beast. Are you basing this off of DeShitt or DeShitt/Baker?

3B: Rolen? Really? Last year was the first year since 2004 that Rolen out performed Ramirez. He also put up a higher HR/FB rate than he has since 2004. That won't continue. I can tell you that.

LF: Lee? Lee? Carlos Lee? He sure as hell is not better than Soriano. He is an absolutely AWFUL LFer. He should not be allowed to even be out there. All while being basically an identical hitter to Soriano. Soriano > Lee.

SP: How are the Astros better than us?

As a note, I didn't know Holliday was playing RF for the Cards.

Have u ever seen Soriano play Left ... he is terrible, possible the worst ive ever seen, Soriano is at least as bad as Lee.

Have you see Soriano play defense since he made his adjustments? Probably Not. And his has a very powerful arm. His UZR is almost always positive too.

Relax ...
Soriano is a bad outfielder, its ok to admit it. also UZR isnt very accurate for judging year to year stats. But im sure you knew that already

Just saying that Soriano is not as bad a defender as everyone thinks. You haven't seen him recently, that's all. He's much much much better now.

You're right. It becomes reliable at about 3 years. Over the last 3 years, he has been the 2nd best LFer. Only Carl Crawford has been better. Carl. Crawford.

3 years not enough for you? Let's go 4. Using UZR, Crawford is better. Using UZR/150(the better stat)? Soriano. And over 5 years, Soriano is tied with Crawford. So yeah, you're point sucks. Soriano is actually a very very very good LFer.

Carlos Lee, on the other hand...

5 years: Only Adam Dunn was worse

4 years: Jason Bay and Delmon Young were worse.

3 years: Only Delmon Young was worse.

So yeah, Soriano is a shit load better than Lee.

Soriano catches most the balls he gets to, but he takes terrible routes half the time. I'm glad he lost the hop, and his arm is tremendous, but defensively, he makes me cringe.

All that matters is that he gets the job done.

Since he has stopped 'The Hop" he has gotten a little better, but he isnt an outfielder, he takes bad routes to balls all the time,

agreed.

Like I said, he has gotten better, but calling him a good outfielder is false IMO

Cubs are probably 3rd in the division right now..

Pittsburgh might surprise people soon though.. They've got some nice young players coming up.
