Compared to the the rest of the NBA? Throughout the off-season you guys know the emphasis i put on depth and how important it would be down the stretch and during the playoffs. I liked that we finally had quality depth on the bench but i had no idea they would be this good. I thought it would be all Korver and Taj. But we got Watson, Brewer/Bogans, Asik, Big Sexy, this roster is deep as hell. I mean we dont have a Jamal Crawford, Lamar Odom or Jason Terry but we got a bunch of guys who play their roles well and get the job done.

I dont have the #s but im sure theres some guys here who can find the offensive and defensive statistics on where they rank among the league. If someone can post up the #s, id appreciate it.

Remember how badly the Bulls' 2nd unit was when the season began? It's almost unreal how they have turned it around for the better...

The best 2nd units in the NBA in my opinion (not really in any particular order):

1. Denver (Felton, Smith, Gallinari, Harrington)
2. Dallas (Barea, Terry, Stojakovic, Haywood)
3. Phoenix (Brooks, Pietrus, Dudley, Warrick, Gortat)
4. Portland (Mills, Fernandez, Roy, Wallace)
5. Boston (Arroyo, West, Green, Davis, Krstic) *healthy
6. San Antonio (Hill, Neal, Bonner, Splitter, Blair)
7. Chicago (Watson, Brewer, Korver, Gibson, Asik)

Yeah they were pretty awful earlier in the season. I think it was you who said that Noahs injury might be a blessing in disguise because it would give our backup bigs some playing time and would help with their development in the system. I didnt agree at the time but looking back i do think it had something to do with it. I know Korver and Brewer both dealt with injuries and i just wasnt ever big on Watson. Im still not too high on him. Nice rankings BTW.

Yeah I was one of the people who thought that it would be a blessing. There is no way I would have been as optimistic about it if it wasn't for that favorable schedule the Bulls had during the 30 games of Noah's injury. And thanks man.

IMO Phoenix and Denver have some pretty darn good 2nd units, but ours probably works the best together. I love the energy our bench brings.

Its really sad that Hill was plagued with so many injuries over his career. He was supposed to be the next great one. Very classy guy. Im glad hes playing well at this stage of his career.

As far as the East it concerned Boston is definitely fighting it out with Chicago. Remember though, Kristic is a starter with taking Perkins' place. Regardless your rankings are good for all teams.

I think Boston would start Shaq over Nenad Krstic if both were healthy. But yeah, who knows... haha

Good point about Shaq though. I didn't take him into much consideration for the starting spot. Come playoff time that may be the case.

I rank our bench as the #1-2 defensive bench in the league. Offense, maybe 20th in the league.

I'm not sure how much stats tell the whole story, but HoopsStats.com ranks the Bulls 2nd behind Dallas in terms of overall efficiency difference.

Here are the top 5 teams:
1. Dallas +11.8
2. Bulls +9.0
3. Philadelphia +7.8
4. Phoenix +7.0
5. Oklahoma City +6.2

Other notable teams
6. San Antonio +5.6
15. LA Lakers -1.0
17. Orlando -1.6
18. Miami -1.7
21. Boston -2.0
30. Memphis -6.0

I'm kind of surprised to see that the Celtics have a worse bench than the Heat according to this.

Do the heat leave out a starter with their bench? A bench that has wade or lebron on it, is a pretty good bench.

Not as they get later in games with good teams and their best players are worn out. I think it's pathetic that the Heat can't give all their starters a rest without losing games.

I'm not sure I get your point. Most teams rarely have 5 bench players on the court at the same time (except late in blowouts). Of course the Bulls bench is better when they are on the court with Deng or Rose.

Are we talking about which team has the best individual bench players, or which team's bench performs best as a unit? Those are two different questions and the stats I quoted don't address specific combinations of players, or when one starter and 4 bench players, or 2 starters and 3 bench players are on the court together.

I guess I'm confused. Wade and Lebron aren't bench players and they don't "become" bench players when they take the bench or play with bench players ...
