What team will Albert Pujols sign with? Cubs, Marlins, Cards?

He'll sign with Miami, then the drug money they use to pay him will be seized and he'll go back to St. Louis.

I hope he doesn't go to Miami honestly. I like Pujols (*gasp* a Cubs fan who likes the enemy!) and I'd rather see him retire a Cardinal rather than a Marlin...

I have a hunch the Cards are still the favorite, but I say the Marlins will land him. Def after hearing comments made by their owner when talking to the media.

If the money that Miami offered him was THAT substantial (in A-Rod territory), then he would've jumped at that contract already. I've got a feeling it's pretty close on a per-year average to what St. Louis has on the table, so he's probably letting them have another shot at him.

You've got to believe that Albert Pujols wouldn't be able to wake up in March two weeks before the season and say to himself, "Wait....Did I seriously sign a contract to play with the Marlins?" There's just no chance in hell I could see him playing the rest of his career there. He'd be there for a few seasons, much like A-Rod in Texas, and he'd get shipped out to a larger market for a cache of young talent.

I heard/read that the Cubs are offering comparable money over fewer years. I wouldnt rule out the Cubs. I don't know why people aren't making a bigger deal out of this. Its better TMV-wise and just the general idea that you can play 8 years to make the same amount of money that it took you 10 years to make with other teams. What if he's 40 and feels like retiring? He'll be leaving more money on the contract with the longer deals.

I don't think he has any intention of leaving St Louis, just getting everything he can from them.

One example of how all over the place the reporting is, is that the media got behind this idea that the Cubs met with Pujols' agent to talk about another player and not, apparently, not Pujols. But suddenly the Cubs are that 3rd team and thats when they made their offer. What happened to them only meeting to talk about another player? Granted, there could be some information to try to drive up his price but, the fact that no one is disputing this just goes to show how little anyone knows.

If you're asking about them meeting to talk about another player, I can't say specifically who. But I've been watching a lot of MLBNetwork and so part of what you're asking about is probably coming from there.

Yeah, when you cobble the various reports together, that third team is either Chicago or Anaheim. And this was kind of my point. They're all over the place.

Yeah.. It doesn't sound like LAA has offered one though.

Perhaps but also consider that, yesterday they announced that a third team has emerged like it was some recent development. If the Cubs are the third team and this is all coming from their meeting with early on Monday, how is this some recent development? Is it simply because they've only been talking about the Marlins and Cardinals? There's such a lack of consistency and everything is way too convoluted.

If all annual averages are equal, and Cards and Marlins offer the most years, I think Pujols stays a Cardinal.
