It's not necessarily the age. I turned 34 a week ago and live a pretty free and nomadic life. It's great. I graduated college last year, sold my house, and got the **** outta IL. I travel light and try to avoid leases. It's very satisfying to know you can pack up and drive across the country on a complete whim at any moment. You can make it anywhere with an education, no debt (or young kids), and an open mind. Developing a fear of commitment (if one does not exist already) also helps.
how about work though man? You doing ok with that? I know how satisfying it must be to just pickup when you decide down the road is better.

Desperado, if you are serious about wanting to GTFO...do it now. Only gets harder as you get older, more responsibilities etc.
Thanks man. The girl(yes the Latina) and I officially called it quits not too long ago. I just keep moving along and talking to different girls to keep me busy. Comes easy(not bragging) since I'm a good looking guy, but it's tough when sitting and bein stagnant . Route 66 is about 10 minutes from my house and many of times lately the past few months I've road my bike to my buddies on that road and have sincerely considered to keep riding and not stop.. Straight shot to California. Got family and a friend out there. It's that point where I just wanna grab my backpack and go.

Yeah, man. The economy/job market is actually strong in many US cities (none in Illinois of course). I spent my twenties working a job I hated in a shitty town. That's no way to go through life.

And I'd suggest taking that trip to CA right now.

I hear ya on that. Jobs cool here I guess, just feels I'm in a dead end shit some times here in the burbs lol

I've debated sincerely many times on my bike to just keep going. I'm really close with my parents though, I love them to death. We don't really have any other family at all, and my looney brother lives in Brazil with his wife so it's just my parents and me. I've always wanted to go but my parents are pushing 60 and I don't want them lonely if that makes sense? I don't know how much I got with them bein good n my ma n me gettin breakfast n my dad n me cruising on the bikes together.

Nonetheless, always felt close to people like Kerouac, Springsteen, even some Steinbeck-- that the endless possibilities of something, anything, out there in the endless open; is just waiting for you to grab it. I'm a romantic haha.

Na but I'll get on the road soon. I don't deny that. Thanks tho and I hope the road is treatin ya good.

Do it. Do it now.

Every married guy will tell you the same thing. Not that their is anything wrong with our marriage, kids or house. It's just we've cemented ourselves. Freedom is a rare thing. With nothing holding you down and youth on your side, go have an adventure. Have two adventures. Do it for us man, your Bears brethren.

I was thinking about heading to Charlotte for the Bears game and then heading west Mon and spending a week there.

I'll be at that game. Got tickets already. Pretty excited.

Sorry to hear about the gf. I'm sure you were getting to the point where it was shit or get off the pot time. I'm sure somebody who makes good calls like you got some pressure from her and saw a red flag or two and gave her the pink slip. Totally understand and agree. I'm around the same age and like talking to girls too so good for you! Put yourself out to stud and keep housing it!

Very true. I'm happily married with kids and they mean everything to me, but about once a year the wife and kids go out of town by themselves for the weekend and it just feels so awesome to be alone and do whatever the **** I want that weekend. I say go out and take advantage of your freedom now because that's all going to be gone once you have kids.

Thanks fellas, truly. Like Gregg Allman once said, 'ain't wastin time no more' is how i put it; got a date lined up already for tomorrow downtown. Girl seems super excited=win.

As for the road, I'll be on it soon enough. Glad some of ya guys are honest about the married life; not that I didn't know that already. But it's good to be reminded that once those commitments in life reach their point, I would need to make a decision. But yes, I will be doing much things before I tie the knot.

I scratch that, I have 2 friends in California lol. Guap, when I make it out it's a must we go roaming around for a night out by you!

Like a load off my chest, man. Being free and no guilt anymore about well.. Anything. Some relationships just drain the life out of you, I felt that way with Tatiana for some time now.

I am against censorship much like the great Thomas Jefferson. However, some people are so evil they must be eradicated from the face of the earth: Hitler, Ghengis Khan, Vlad the Impaler, Stalin, Alexander the Great, Pol Pot and Winterwarz

I actually really like Milwaukee as well. Their downtown area is great, so much fun. But everything outside of Milwaukee sucks.
