We can get it out of the way, Foley is a Hall of Famer. But since his return he's increasingly gone downhill. Like most of the folks in his position around the UC sans Frank the Tank, they've become all about being personalities of themselves when McD came on board. He's a charecature of his former self and it's sad to see as I too grew up loving his calls. His spiel with Edzo only makes it worse, when he's with Konroyd he's not as bad, and when Eddie does national he's not bad. But when they are together it's almost like they are acting the parts instead of calling games. It's extremely annoying to have them constantly get off on tangents and flat out stop calling the game or throw in wrong info in between. The thing we love about Foley was how he called the game, and when he used to have to call it because he was the radio and tv voice it was great, but now that he doesn' t have to worry about actually calling the game because we can see it, he seems to just get drunk and give up at times.

foley and o. Only because the poll said "anything at all" and sometimes he does say something that makes sense.

The inside jokes are annoying

What I miss are the days of Pat & Dale on radio and tv. There was no time for annoying shoutouts and birfday wishes, they just called the game and had fun doing it. The biggest change(s) in Foley's call was Dale leaving for a real job, only calling the game for tv...and Eddie. I've run hot and cold on Eddie and his Eddieisms. I can do without all the shoutouts and teaching points, but I understand that's simply his personality. If they had to do tv and radio, where every pass had to be called, Eddie would implode.

Having heard many other play-by-play tandems, we really should consider ourselves lucky.

For what it's worth, my first memory of hearing the radio was Lloyd Pettit calling a Hawks game. THAT guy had a truly memorable voice.

For the one or two of you who may not have seen this...It's GOLD!

Quoted for total truth. Man were game calls classics; the Karpotsev rant, the bitching about the refs, the drunken enthusiasm...
And I did watch the Wee-knee game live, loved it. What year was that?

I don't mind either of these really. I don't demand strict to the book type of sticking to the game announcing. To me it's like people complaining about podcasters that veer into tangents about random nothingness or strange personal details; I enjoy it far more than the few podcasts I listen to where their tangents are talking about how Winston Churchill would later realize what this decision would hold for his navy.

The only thing that is actually annoying to me is when Pierre seems devoid of standing on his own making an statement.. when he frequently goes, RIGHT EDDIE~!? looking for gratification it's annoying.

I love Pat and Eddie. It will be a sad day in Chicago when Foley retires. I wish they would stop the in game shoutouts though. I know CSN probably makes them do it but some of them are just ridiculous. Someone just lost a family member, that's fine. But I don't give a flying **** if little Johnny is having a sleepover with all his friends and they're watching the Hawks game.

I do... :fap:

I apologize, guys, but it had to be done.

I usually watch the other commentators, realizing that Pat and Eddie are some of the better pairs in the league.
Watch Tampa, Dallas, Phx or LA sometime if you think Foley and Edzo are bad. I think they're middle of the pack, TBH.
Doc called Teuvo Teravainen "Hossa" last night, but at least it wasn't a giggle fest.

Just call the damn games. Pierre's side show is embarrassing too, but at least I can mute him if need be.

Yeah, when I stream and get the other team's broadcasters they're generally terrible and they make me realize that Pat and Eddie are good. I like them.

Yeah, it's really annoying in a blowout game when they start wandering down their own personal dials.
I agree with Pez. Call the game. Even if it's 8-1. I don't care about Eddie's kid playing at Penn State or giggling over ice cream cones.

Happy Humans eating ice cream cones with tree-turty-tree left in da turd period.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Pat and Eddie are some of the best in the league right now--which shows the sad state of the league. Pat and Eddie get annoying and I think it's just because when they go into their schtick it gets so annoying night in-night-out that i find them slightly less tolerable than Regis. That, and I think hearing both doing their job well means when they do it poorly they sound even worse.

At least with Regis he's always been relgated to the "what the smeg are you doing?" criteria--even before he pretended to be Byfuglien and thrust his ass into Ryan Miller's loins.

If I wanted Hockey Hijinks, I'd watch Don Cherry's Rock-em Sock-em.

Weiderman/Murray are the best.

However, Pat did have the Karpotsev rant, which means he belongs in the HoF on that alone.

Listening to that made me forget how good Tallon was and in my opinion a much better listen than Eddy. Pat and Dale sounded great together.

Konroyd, err Mr. Vanilla, is terrified to make a critical negative remark...and probably rightly so...isn't that right Mr. Mora?
