Shemar Stewart for sure would infuriate me and prove to me even further Ryan Poles is a terrible GM.

Physically Stewart looks like a beast.

Stewart's production tells more about him as a football player.

It seems ridiculusly improbable that he could never muster more than 1 whole sack each year he played. That type of production in the NFL will get you no playing time.

Booker would basically be competing with him for the backup role. Booker has more experience and is as physically matched with Stewart.

Not sure why you think almost zero sack production in College would translate to anything immediately in the NFL. The whole point od Stewart is that he is unproductive and raw. Somehow the NFL coaches will find what college coaches couldn't....

That does not sound like an instant upgrade over Booker.
While I agree with this overall, Booker is not a physical match. About a 7 RAS while Stewart is a 10.

That's right folks, Poles traded back into the draft for 7 RAS!!!:coffee: I liked it but he'll need to add muscle/weight for this D. Might actually fit better in this one if he does.

Weight wise he is down a bit. He is 6'6" though.

Stewart is more athleticly gifted, but it hasn't translated into any meaningful production.

He is another project.

I get it but his dynamic scores are lower as well.

To be clear, I have no interest in Stewart in round 1 and rather have a guy that's shown college production than a winner in the underwear Olympics.

Stewart is apparently all world at everything but production. But there's no way to get a good read on him.

Not that your defense of him isn’t valid, Cam Jordan is a fine example of antithesis, but Stewart as a 3 year starter has never gotten to 2 sacks in a year. 4.5 sacks as a 3 year starter is a rough sell as a top 10 player who didn’t get the constant double-team treatment in college. Jordan could at least get 6 in a year for a PAC25 school back when the conference was one pro-style in USC and the rest shotgun air raid offenses throwing 60+ times a game.

The bears are already gambling on a guy who can’t/hasn’t produced after giving big money to Dayo to be DE2. He’s another who has gotten his flowers and pretty words, but the production and results just aren’t there.

2 gambles on guys who don’t finish plays on the DL, at edge rusher of all spots is setting yourself up for failure if/when they don’t produce. You’re right back where you were at square 1 looking for more than Tez, and instead of undrafted bums like Hardy, or late round bums like Dom Robinson, Cowart, or Jacob Martin, or a cheap FA like Darrell Taylor or Walker—you’ve now wasted a top 10 pick (and 45 or 48 million) and still not fixed the problem.

Can’t afford to miss on that. Thats a gamble that a GMs takes to get himself fired, unless the offense is going to start winning games 50-49, which…lets be brutally honest here, when has a Chicago bears offense in our lifetimes done that?

Just hoping Poles doesn't spend the #10 pick on Colorado State kicker Jordan Noyes.

Kind of hope it’s Stewart now and he turns into Lawrence Taylor

You want him to be a 66 year old man whose best is clearly behind him? :D

The amount of coke that man snorted to still be alive is a testament to his superior genetics.

I get the intent but when did the Bear reach in one for Nagy? Fields? It didn't work out but don't think he was a draft reach at 11. He was taken at 11 with a trade up in front of 2 teams that would have taken him at i4 and 15. He'd have definitely have been gone in the next few picks. Roquan was also not a reach.

I didn't say Nagy did anything but try to outsmart himself by doing what he least expected.

As long as Poles does an expected move we'll get a player who's as good and as needed as any other options.
There's enough talent for our needs in a number that's higher than 10.

It's kind of like last year, if it wasn't Odunze Bowers or Verse were still available and probably on our table. Not to mention 1 of the 2 WRs and 2 OTs above us Odunze probably would've replaced giving us 2-3 expected options at the spot.

What is the pick at#10 that you fear most?

Mine: Shemar Stewart. Minimal production but great combine numbers. Drafting on "potential" is not what you do with a top ten pick. Save it for later rounds.
He reminds me of Alonzo Spellman. No thank you. Totally agree with you.

Stewart and Warren for me. But if you let me veto one of those 2 its an easy choice to veto Stewart for me so there's my front runner by a mile.
